One of the best things I saw happen over the pandemic was watching you blow up. KZbin suggested your OG guitar center drummer video, and I remember genuinely being entertained watching it and giving you a sub (you had less than 15k at the time) thinking I might have found a diamond in the rough. I don't even remember when I realized your view counts and sub count had blown up, but it made me smile and it's been fucking awesome watching you turn something that I imagine was kind of just a lark while we had no gigs into a real avenue for your passion and talent for drums. Can't wait for the Meinl sessions. Cheers.

Really cool choices. Heavier, smaller rides are often overlooked in jazz settings, and I totally get why - but they can really bridge the gap in more agressive styles of fusion or modern jazz. Loud bells and an uber clean stick lends itself to the fast and precise nature of the drumming. I often find myself reaching for my medium 20" sabian artisan ride rather then my much lighter 22" Ufip blast extra dry, which on its own is my preferred cymbal, but in a band - or god forgive, an orchestra/big band? The heavier 20" just works so well. It's all about context, and hearing it with the music - given the chance I just set up both rides anyway ;) Keep on being a monster my guy, and hey - maybe we'll even get a chance to play together at some point.
