i’m pretty sure namjoon said that the “girl” in this song was just added for it to sound smoother. most bts songs are purposefully gender neutral so it can be interpreted in all ways/so everyone can relate to it. a **good** portion of bts songs aren’t about relationships even tho that’s what you’d think at first glance. there’s always a deeper meaning. that’s what i love about bts

Guys, FYI, this is a bts universe you r reacting to, that is bts fictional storyline ! This storyline is going on since 2014 and ended up with epiphany music video in 2018 , with Answer to everything!! But Army's are not giving you proper order of videos , which may get you confused !!! 1:- I need you ( original version) 2:- on stage : prologue ( with subtitles) 3:- run MV 4:- young forever ( with subtitles) 5:- 7 wings short films ( consisting each member) ( with subtitles) These short films are solo songs of each member too, in short films ,there are not full songs playing , so u may react to their lyric videos separately afterwards 6:- blood sweat and tears , and blood sweat tears ( japanese version, remember to put subtitles on) 6:- highlight reels( there are 4 videos , out of which, directly react to 13 minutes long one, make sure to turn on subtitles) 7:- fake love teaser 1 and fake love extended version. 8:- euphoria 9:- epiphany ( definitely with subtitles!!) Aigoo. There’s so much symbolism and so many metaphors in these videos. Cards, butterflies, wings, fire, water, mirrors, lollipops, cameras, flashbacks, flash forwards, sin, innocence..omg the list goes on!! There are some YT videos that give good explanations of the 6 year concept. it’s so crazy deep. I’m convinced that deciphering BTS MVs will be a college course in the near future. 🤯

There's a lot of symbolism, I'm just gonna list a few of them but how you interpret the story is up to you and if you want to invest in deciphering their story. Notice how when the boys are on their own, they have their personal struggles, but when they are together they can be happy - this shows everyone, even the happiest person in your group can be going through something, also that even in the midst of chaos and despair you can still find a piece of happiness somewhere. RM - Lollipop is a symbol of innocence, but notice how it gets replaced with a cigarette in I NEED YOU MV, in RUN, the symbol of a BUTTERFLY symbolizes a change. When he opens the door to the container, he is taken back to when the boys were all happy, but this time instead he finds a card of the butterfly on top of feathers (what's left of their past), he sits in the container and accepts this 'change' Jin - The centerpiece of this story is JIN. The house of cards is the fragile dream he keeps (dreams of a perfect world where they are all happy), it always crumbles because no matter how hard he tries 'saving them all' from their despair, it is not something he can do alone (ties with the MV 'SAVE ME'). He is the main character (I think along with V) as a lot of these MVs can be looked as a DREAM that he has trapped himself in where they are happy, but in reality the pain and suffering his friends go through are real, and it almost looks like even the boys in his dream are breaking down his house of cards to 'wake him up'. SUGA - Shows self-destruction, burning himself in a room where he isolates himself, he represents the YOUTH who are on the verge of giving up in this world (His story ties heavily with the comic series 'SAVE ME' which you can find on the webtoon app, the MVs don't explain a lot about his story, except its related to dying in fire and a piano), you'll have to watch his SHORT FILM 'FIRST LOVE' to get more. J-HOPE- The pills, taking pills or drugs is often a form of disconnecting yourself from the pain, you see he faints on the bridge and takes pills when he is on his own, yet when he is with the boys, you see him throw the pills into the fire. The boys are his strength to not rely on the pills. Jimin - He is always shown in that 'bathtub', more self-destructing tendencies, unlike V who is thrown into the water to drown, JIMIN chooses to drown himself in the water. Him burning the pictures is like burning painful memories, he wants to forget. Yet in RUN, when he goes back into his 'space' to drown himself again, you see the boys there, turning his space into something more positive and happy. It's like a cycle, that space will always remind him of 'memories' even if he has that space to forget. V - drowning in water meaning constant struggle, drowning in water usually blocks sound so he feels he doesn't have a voice, drowning because his struggles are 'suffocating' him. His issues with domestic abuse make him feel like he is drowning. Jungkook - The wanderer, he represents the YOUTH who have given up and in doing so becomes a void, he feels nothing, he lets trouble happen around him and even shows little care for when a car is about to run him over. The tunnel scene - Although they are all together and happy, you can see that they act like a 'public nuisance'. Society sees them as nothing more as 'trouble makers' and JIN (the one driving the car) is the one that always gets them out of it. In the end, Jungkook looks at you and you can see that not all 7 of them are visible, ppl speculate he is looking JIN because he knows JIN is always looking out for them. I feel this RUN MV is really smart, although the song itself is singing about toxic relationships that they know they have to get out off, the MV shows they don't only mean toxic romantic relationships, but even their relationship with their parents and society. It's a cry out that these things happen and to spread awareness. A nice start towards the storyline of BTS' message about self-love and self-worth. I find it funny how a lot of reactors immediately think every song is about a 'relationship' between lovers when in actuality, a lot of their songs, especially newer ones are actually songs to ARMY and a lot of their lyrics are symbolic. To fully understand the story you really need to put in some research. That's why fans are so engaged with their content. Maybe you'll get into it too? Sorry for the long read.

The "BTS Run" series of videos are more like reality TV or variety show style videos. Those have nothing to do with the BTS Universe storyline that's been featured in the "I Need U" and "Run" music videos that you guys have seen recently. The BTS storyline of videos is a whole other "series", so to speak. It's a storyline that runs through a bunch of their music videos, as well as their short film videos. BTS even leaves us clues sometimes through their live performances in the background videos as they are performing, and the videos we watch at their live concerts as they are taking a break or getting changed backstage. So BTS ARMY has to pay attention at all times & be alert, 'cos we never know when, where or what BTS might reveal to us at any time. Crazy, huh? Well, that's why it's always interesting to be part of the BTS ARMY. And that's why ARMYs are so engaged and so turned up all the time. We're always pushed to look deeper, be it when we're listening to BTS songs, watching BTS videos, playing BTS games, or watching them perform live at music shows, award shows or at their own live concerts. BTS may seem to be talking about one thing on the surface, like you may think a song is about girls or romantic relationships the way most boyband songs are. But nope, take a closer look at the lyrics, then broaden your mind, they can be interpreted in more than one way, so it may not just be about girls or love relationships. There's always more to it than meets the eye. With BTS, ARMYs always go deeper.

If you look at the end carefully, Jimin (the orange haired one) is back in the bathtub and drops a burning picture that turns into petals that form the characters "Hwa Ya Yeon Hwa", meaning "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life". That is the name of their album trilogy from that time. It's a direct parallel to the I Need You scene where Jimin was also in a bathtub about to drown himself with a burning picture (I think it was the hot air balloon from their album cover but I'm not sure)

In Korean tv, they don't show images of people using knives (violently) or cigarettes, so they tend to either be blurred, or, in the case of cigarettes, replaced with a lollipop. If you recall, back in I Need U, RM took the lollipop out of his mouth and dropped it on the money that was thrown on the ground at the gas station. When it landed on the money, what showed was actually a lit cigarette.

usually when BTS write love songs or what sounds like a love song, we almost always end up figuring out that it means something entirely different hahahah. Other than a few songs from their earlier years, most of BTS' songs are gender neutral which is awesome

This is THE most iconic BTS era ok (Dont y'all even @ me on this okay? Okay) (This is probably gonna be a bit long soooo) Not sure about others but the way I interpret this song is that they're not necessarily talking about a romantic relationship between 2 people. (This song is from the album 'The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Part 2.... (a follow up album of The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Part 1 obviously 😂) Because the overall theme of the albums are centred around 'youth'. This mv depicts the members acting recklessly as well as them all acting violent and disillusioned. "Part one explained how youth is tiring and difficult, and it also touched on how we feel like we’re always on edge. Part two will have a more adventurous and daring feel to it. That’s why our title song is ‘Run.'” “It’s natural that people fail or make mistakes, but I think it’s a touchy subject for the society as a whole. We wanted to comfort ourselves by saying that one mistake or failure is not the end of the world.” Namjoon (RM) explained in an interview, “We didn’t want to just blankly say ‘cheer up’ or ‘be strong.’ We really wanted to comfort people our way, by producing the music and writing the lyrics ourselves. We poured our heart and soul into this amazing song.” (There's also bits added that relate to the whole BTS universe theories and whatnot that link most of their music videos together.) Going back to what Isaid at the beginning about it not necessarily talking about a romantic relationship between 2 people.... like when they say 'you' I think they're talking to (in a sense) their youth. For example: "Make me run Make me run more Let my feet rip apart with wounds At least I can I smile when I see you..." They're not talking about a person but rather the 'you' is them talking about and reminiscing about their childhood/their youth. (I hope to God y'all understand what I mean here.....I'm not good at putting my thoughts into words..... like it makes sense in my head tho😂😂💀💀💀) Also on an unrelated note... (you do this most of the time anyways but ya know) please don't do what other people do and please forbthe love of god watch their videos right till the end.... bc you never know..... their might be something really important at the end that you might miss ;)

The last scene of jimin burning the photo is the starting scene of i need you. So i think in this storyline...events of run happens before i need you. Amd they get flashback of run( good memories) in i need you. ALSO , the pic changes..if you watch it again . One person is missing from the photo.

It can be love of brotherhood or friends, family or even fans & their stars! Also girl is not necessarily girl, it can means any love one like friends, brothers, family or fans! Even though all of these boys who looks like having innocent, carefree, fun times of their lives & loves each other dearly & would share everything together but behind their masks they each have painful stories behind their personal life that eating it up their inside but doesn’t want to share those pain & burden because fear of dragging their friends( loved one) to their own problems or fear of losing them! I think this MV is saying that everyone carries pain inside but if you truly love yourself & want to be loved by others truly, be earnest & share who you really are! Share your inner burden & asked help! As BTS messages through out the whole albums of “Love yourself” are “In order to love & be loved truly, you have to love yourself first! So find yourself & know yourself! The golden rule when it comes to bts' song lyrics. It might sound like it is for a girl they love, but actually the lyrics is deeper. I could say that they only use the 'girl' as a metaphor about the real issue that they are trying to tell.
