This is how I imagine a WH40K game. The scale is amazing and the combination of air units and support powers on a grand scale would really grasp the atmosphere of the 40K universe. However, a melee system would be difficult to implement.

A melee system might actually not be that hard to make. You could just make it similar to the Dawn of War melee, just on a grander scale. Would be pretty cool to see an enormous Tyranid swarm rushing towards you while decimating them with arty and air support before they reach your line.

I really, really hope someone make RTS like World in Conflict. The fast pace aspect is, imo, nothing new ( Game like Star Craft or Company of Heroes have this aspect, and also many other traditional RTS). But what make this game special, *is how easy it is for new player* . In WiC, you don't have to worry about economic, fighting, scouting, etc... at the dame time. In WiC, the only thing you have to worry about is fighting ( You have fixed regenerate point to call unit, off map power obtain by killing) Basicaly, World in Conflict *is the First Person Shooter of RTS, or better, pseudo MOBA before MOBA become the mainstream.* ;)

I hope WiC continues to stay strong as I grow older. I will never get bored playing as the Soviets/REDFOR in both vanilla and the modern warfare mod. The gameplay mechanics make the damn game so good and less of a hassle to micromanage compared to most RTS games out there. The Tactical Aid points never fail to amaze me due to how bombastic they get, the higher the graphical settings, the more satisfied I get.

Good video! However, I'm not sure if the game could be fully classified as an RTS. I remember an interview that was done way back before the game came out, and one of the designers on the game, Nicklas Cederstrom, had mentioned that internally, they always referred to the game as an RTT, since matches were filled with pure action and had little to no downtime. They also only lasted about 20 min. Compared to most RTS's at the time, matches could last anywhere between 15 min. and 1 or 2 hours. Depending on the number of players. They decided to market the game as an RTS, since more people were familiar with that genre than they were RTT. The game also didn't feature any form of base building, which in my opinion, is a core design element of an RTS game. I guess it could be classified as a hybrid RTS/RTT. Regardless, it was still a fun game that I enjoyed playing at the time, and I still think it has one of the best nuke explosions in a video game.

i played Act of Aggression and the 'reboot edition' quite a bit with friends. its alright. its literally as close to command and conquer Zero Hour as legally possible. it plays the same, feels the same, same tactics, similar races and abilities...

This RTS focus more on micro'ing units, there is a lot of control for your units, when i was good with the hotkey i was managing to make my tank reverse to stay in strong position with the ennemy, control and attack at the same times while controlling other units arround and calling air strike.

This really was awesome. How to play it online? This game helped me develop my English language skills as I was a teammember of the Hour of Victory gaming community and we held tournaments back then. I remember getting in the top 100 of the global rankingboards for some time. Can you still play online somehow? I really wished it was possible because it is so unique and nice.

I loved this game back in the days & recently streamed me replaying it on my channel. Still holds up, albeit the CTD issues are growing it seems. I encountered the out-of-memory crash twice while streaming & setting graphics to mid or high seems to help against it.

Also idk if this is still the case but fyi if you join a multiplayer match as the Support role do not deploy artillery, only deploy repair & AA vehicles. Back in the days your own teammates would turn on you & kill your units even if it means your team loses, because deploying anything but repair & AA was heavily frowned upon since on most (but not all) maps they don't help as much as call-in stuff.

@@Argacyan I have yet to see that teamkilling reappear, but it's still good advice for team play. That said, most people will groan at you in the support role for going only artillery, as the AA is far more important for locking down the air player. A mix of the two is perfectly fine.

I really liked the multiplayer to this. At least when I played it, it had a really cooperative community and it was really good on new players. There was a lot of communication, people shared resources and if you asked for help, seeing helicopters from the other side of the map peel off to come and bully the tanks harassing your infantry was great. Similarly, being lured away by some helpless looking armour or helicopters and then you fall into the AA's trap was so satisfying. It felt balanced and you weren't capable of dealing with everything on your own - the closest I came to an all around force was being the Americans and ordering two heavy tanks, two APCs and two light AAs. Still only takes a couple of heavy helos to balls out on your AAs and then it's pretty fucked anyway. 😂
