I agree with you. There are so many hidden gems on the Sega Saturn that most games are dying to be ported into modern systems. My picks for the mini are Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining force 3 with the other 2 scenarios that are stuck in Japan, along with other hidden RPGs on the system. But there is one exclusive game that captures so much tension in one game. That game is Enemy Zero. I have seen footage from the Happy Video Game Nerd, and I was quite surprised that a game like that existed on the system. I hope Sega would put these games when they make a Saturn Mini

I could be wrong, but the Saturn is one of the most difficult systems to emulate, compared to the ps1 or even the Dreamcast, something about it's architecture makes it tough, but I think the tech has gotten way better within the last 5 years. Wonder what Modern Vintage Gamer would say about this.

the situation's definitely improved. all of my footage in this video was off an emulator, with some being other people's footage hehe. still not the best, but better than what it was

I don't have issues with Dreamcast on a powerful PC. Saturn can be a nightmare to emulate. Sometimes you have to try different roms for the same game and find one that gets past that CD player screen.

No Saturn Bomberman? I have no idea of Hudson's relationship with SEGA now, but Saturn Bomberman seems like a shoe-in for a mini console. My list of games would be somewhat different. I think games like Keio Flying Squadron 2 and Deep Fear should be included as well. Games that were Saturn exclusives and were already translated to English, but for whatever reason were only released in PAL regions, should absolutely be included. Of course this is never going to happen either way. Just my 2 cents.

If we can get Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining of the Holy Ark and Dark Saviour, that would be a bonus reason to purchase a Saturn mini. I actually tried out a lot of games from this console since Saturn emulation got really good, never had the chance to play it since I thought my family didn't have one and it turns out they did, along with a Dreamcast, and just forgot about it. need to get em fixed and maybe modded so any suggestions would be welcome!

i've been playing a lot of saturn too as you can see. sakura ward and saga have been my favorites, and next im looking at playing dragon force and shining 3 after the first two. sakura wars 2 is also getting a fan translation sometime in the near future so that'll take priority as well!

I think it´s just a matter of time when the mini sega Saturn would see the light of the day. Sure, the despite the improvements, emulating such complicated mixture of chips it´s still difficult and expensive, if you let me say so, but I think perhaps in a couple of years we would see a mini sega Saturn model in stores and my five cents it would sell like hot cakes.

With City Connection (the current owners of Success IPs such as Cotton) outsourcing the SSF emulator for their Saturn re-releases, the possibility of a Sega Saturn Mini doesn't seem too far off. However, as many people would point out, the specs needed for Saturn emulation are still a bit steep, so it'll be a little longer before that happens, if ever. On a side-note, if I were asked to make a line-up of games for a Saturn Mini, I'd say at least 30 games or so instead of 20 (bonus games aside). It still won't have as many games as the Genesis Minis, but it would still be closer. This is just my opinion though, *don't* take it for granted. Here are some other games I would like along with the mentioned games in the video: 1. Baku Baku Animal (very underrated puzzle game with a unique spin; story dialogue is mostly JP-exclusive even though there's a full English script in the Game Gear version) 2. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On (third-person arcade mecha fighter that is essentially a precursor to Gundam Vs.; underrated in the west, but has a following in Japan) 3. Dark Savior (a successor to Landstalker) 4. Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition (if we're getting Daytona USA, we should get this; huge improvement over the vanilla port) 5. Dragon Force (tactical and real-time RPG where you can control armies of up to 100 units at once; would most likely be JP-exclusive since Working Designs translated the game) 6. Dynamite Deka (yes, Dynamite Deka--I truly doubt Sega would care about renewing the Die Hard license, but fortunately the JP version is still English-friendly) 7. Gungriffon (a first-person mech sim by Game Arts) 8. Puyo Puyo Sun (a JP version would likely include this; the Genesis Mini 2 included a port of the VS. mode, so it makes sense) 9. Sakura Wars (1996)(again, a JP version would likely include this) 10. Saturn Bomberman (do I need to explain?)

A great list of games that I wished to be rereleased in the future like Saga & Burning Rangers. I think I would pick Alpha 3 over Alpha 2 just having a lot of content exclusive to that version.

They messed up the sound on Ristar on the Mini 2 however yes the emulation is solid on the minis. Sonic 3D blast on Saturn....I dunno it's more or less the same game as the MD version but fair enough. Agreed Panzer Dragoon Saga needs to happen.

Interestingly enough, I actually enjoy Sonic 3d Blast, at least on the Genesis mini 2. The saved states has really made it very accessible and playable imo. That being said, I probably would have hated to play it on the original Genesis, or even Saturn hardware.

Saturn Bomberman (obviously. Playing 6-8 players, in teams of two, in that game is pure awesome), Baku Baku Animal and... Death Tank Zwei (I would play duels vs my dad in this one every weekend during high school; hope someone talented could just port it as a modern version on the PC with online VS). Maybe also Clockwork Knight 1 and 2 (exclusives otherwise forgotten). What about Symphony of the Night (yes it's on the PS1 but that's an inferior version) and Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru translated to English? Radiant Silvergun? Blast Wind? Grandia (also on the PS1)? HotD and VC 1 and 2? Layer Section 1 and 2? Soukyugurentai? Gekirindan? Batsugun? X-multiply? Silhuoette Mirage? Panzer Dragoon 1, 2 and Saga are obvious. Christmas Nights should be included with the base game and maybe throw some extra stuff in there... A shitload of 2D-fighters (this time without loadtimes/requiring RAM-carts? I'm coming from PAL-territory but all of Working Designs games? All of the Ages collections. Plenty more shmups (on Ages and not). Yeah the list can't be endless but man for such a small console library they could put in a huge amount of BANGERS! I grew up on the Saturn (and have a pretty massive collection); I'd pay premium if they would. Edit: I can't say my list would be realistic... The first ones are.

No Sonic R, Sonic 3D Blast, Daytona, or Virtua Fighter 1, instead any 4 of Strikers 1945 II, Gunbird, Layer Section, Soukyougurantai, Last Bronx, X-men vs Street Fighter (ignoring liscensing right?), Dodonpachi, Golden Axe the Duel, Vampire Savior, Magic Knight Rayearth. Dreams would be Grandia, Wachenroder, Lunar 2, Assault Suit Laynos, Sega Touring Car Championship with fixed controls Also, I know that last comment was in jest but how can we be wrong when you dont even have a Saturn and had to look up what games are even on the thing 😂

Not gonna happen. First, the saturn is difficult to emulate. Like the 64, it requires hardware that is a bit more powerful than the those used in previous minis. That means higher price which means being priced out of the market. It will also require significant R&D since there are no currently existing emulators that hits all of these games without issues. You already mentioned licensing, so I'll move to the final point. Marketability. The saturn didn't sell well, so the potential audience is small. Best we'll ever get is ports.

I always go for the Japanese versions of minis. Saturn for sure would be better for the Japanese version. Too many great games that never left Japan that didn't help the sales of the Saturn.

Not that i hate your list, but... I don't think you can see a mini without puzzle game... If not Bomberman, put at last Puyo Sun or BakuBaku... Also... no sports game ? Where are Athlete Kings, Winter Heat or Steep Slope Sliders ? And not adding Dragon Force ? Man, you can't be more wrong ! This game is THE game that need to be in, the best game ever :p. And sorry but i don't sse Capcom game in such a console... So replace SFA and Megaman with more probable Golden Axe The Duel or Virtual On: Cyber Troopers and Keio Flying Squadron 2. i thought dragon force was a bit of a stretch personally, if anything just missing the cut. puyo puyo sun SHOULD'VE been on the list for sure, and same for some sports games but as you can probably tell, me personal tastes got the better of me there haha. capcom's been having their games on sega's other mini consoles pretty consistently so i thought it was safe to assume they'd do the same here too, but it's just hard with limited space. definitely gonna play dragon force soon tho myself!

@@ZaffreRevolution don't worry, i know that kind of dilemma. I had a hard time choosing game of genre such as horror / adventure or shmup. Worst, there are whole genre that i didn't even bothered to add, such as FMV, Board and Visual Novel/Dating Sim, most of them being niche games walled behind language barrier dont' help. Honestly, being a fan of the original console, I'm likely to buy the mini regardless of the games. But for sure, I'll be a bit disappointed if there weren't at least Burning Rangers, Guardian Heroes, The Story of Thor 2 (Legend of Oasis), Shining Force 3 and, of course, Dragon Force. Yoh, waiting for fan translation for the others games (starting with Dragon Master Silk ;).
