I love my Zagras deck and he can be really strong. A couple of alts/adds... Prodigal Pyromancer(Pinger Wizard that helps with Party), Nullpriest of Oblivion(Cleric, Menace & Lifelink, late game recursion), Grim Haruspex(Wizard, Card Advantage), Taurean Mauler(Changeling, Growing Threat), Fireblade Charger(1 mana Warrior that pings when dies), and Glaring Spotlight(Utility artifact that removes Hexproof and can protect in a pinch or be used to alpha). There are more but everyone has their own flavor. I tend to lean into the Party side so it's easier to get Zagras out.

Love it. I started brewing a grixis deathtouch/pingers deck with Zagras in the 99. Don't know if I'll ever put it together, but I love the dirty wincon of Heartless Hidetsugu with Obosh and a collar. Currently building a Sygg and I'm trying to jam prodigal sorcerer in there, just a pet card.

The manabase could really use a Smoldering Marsh, Sulfurous Springs and Foreboding Ruins. They're all very affordable duals that usually enter untapped.

pestilent spirit maybe good for this deck as a boardwipe, along with savage alliance or aggravate or blazing volley or radiating lightning

I run him as a pseudo hidden commander for that very reason. Fire Covenant, Barrage of Boulders, Boiling Earth, Scouring Sands, Wail of the Nim, Volcanic Torrent are also good choices for wipes.

Chandra's Incinerator would be a great card in this deck. The pingers in the deck can help to reduce its casting cost and then you can focus on chipping away at an opponent's life total while controlling the board

i know! it would mean every time we use these pingers we can or double the effect or deal direct damage my only question is instead of what card to put it...

Grim Haruspex is a good alternative/addition to Midnight Reaper. It doesn’t deal you damage and is a wizard for reducing Zagras’ mana cost. Inferno Titan is great with Zagras too. Let’s you kill three creatures on etb and when it attacks. Bogardan Hellkite is another option too. It’s a lot of mana but can take down five creatures and gives you a big body.

@@CommandValley Viridan Longbow is possibly an upgrade over Lightning Prowess too. It costs one mana more first time round but you’re less likely to get two for one-d if/when the suited up creature dies. You can move it between creatures too if the situation calls for it. EDIT : Ogre Slumlord would be great with Warstorm Surge or Terror of the Peaks. Killing a nontoken creature with Slumlord and Surge in play would create a chain reaction taking out all the nontoken creatures you want.

Can confirm, not fun to play against. Sharpshooter plus the commander, and you can't play any creatures, as they just get pinged down at instant speed. Sad Face :(
