I really appreciated this video! Scorpion god was my first homebrew EDH deck (I’m on my 3rd now), but I tried to lean into the infect side of wither. I’ve been a little disappointed with the performance, and especially the fact that often Scorpion God isn’t actually doing anything for me. I decided I wanted to focus on the controlling wither/card draw/aristocrats angle, and this video is the PERFECT starting place. Thanks a ton!

Some other cards I feel should be mentioned for rhys (both older and newer than this video): Mimic vat: This card seems strange to include, but it not only doubles as a reanimator prevention against opponents, but due to the way delayed triggers work, if you're able to activate Rhys's doubling ability, the Doubled token DOESN'T GO AWAY. this allows you to build up an insane stack of copied creatures if played right. It is also a nice way of recursion that can turn non-legend creatures into tokens, and thus benefit from many, many things. This card has EXTREME VERSATILITY, allowing Rhys to adapt to strategies on the go, being able to access creatures outside of the colors. Remember, when its blown up, the creature DOES NOT go back into the graveyard. and yes, it affects things that become creatures and get blown up, like land creatures. do with this as you will. Aura shards: You're playing a token deck in Green/white. This allows you to absolutely lock down an artifact or enchantment deck, and kill mana rocks on sight. Mondrak, Glory Dominus: 40 dollars of token doubling goodness, on legs. It comes with built in protection, and is decently strong at 4/4 to boot. Helm of the Host: Have tons of good legendary creatures, but can't duplicate them? put this on them, and the legend rule gets taken off the token copy, meaning they're free game. the token has haste too, meaning that its up and running right away! possibilities are endless! Yenna, Redtooth Regent: This lady is nuts. So you have a doubling season/parallel lives out, and get her out. for 2 mana, you can double your doublers. and since they're tokens, you get 2 doublers from the double, meaning 3 doubling seasons/parallel lives. this is GAME ENDING amounts of token generation. Not to mention, she can double up on aura shards, Enchantments that you might have copied with Mimic vat, Enchantment creatures, and such. just make sure they're the only copy on the field before you do so, or else it won't work. Nacatl War-Pride: If you're facing a token deck, this is an excellent way to break through, regardless of the amount of creatures you have. attack once, and it replicates itself equal to THEIR creatures, and those copies must be blocked! Add in a doubler, and thats ensured damage, for they won't have enough to block with! Save rhys, and double the copies, and you'll be able to save the rhys copies after combat, which is just straight up insane. Securitron Squadron/Galadhrim Brigade: Squad is Replicate on legs. While Securitron squadron has a more expensive squad cost, universal +1/+1 buffs to tokens is much better in a tokenball, while Galadhrim Brigade focuses more on elves. Remember, The copies come in as tokens, so needless to say, you can exploit this for big creatures. Mirror Box: want to make copies of copies of legendary creatures? look no more. a good addition alongside Helm of the host to get around the pesky Legend rule!

Watching this because I recently got stomped by a Nethroi deck, and the rulings with Scourge of the Skyclaves and 0/0 counter etbs made me want to try it myself, and I'm looking for ideas. I don't get why the boi is a cat, tho. Gives me more Wendigo vibes.

May I suggest autumns veil and veil of summer You’re trying to combo blue players and or other players might try to interact … while it’s just 2 cards it’s still 2 cards that if you have ATTHE TIME might save your spell from being countered Also seers sundial actually is playable in this deck (it’s not top tier but play able ) With seers sundial in play and anything that turns lands into creatures, commander and ashnods alter. Sacrifice creature land get 2 mana. Land creature hits graveyard gets returned because of the commander it enters and sundials trigger hits the stack use the 2 mana to draw a card….all this does is draw as much as you Choose you then stop it and then sac for mana for the found combo piece(s)

Nice decklist. I love Orvar, it was my first mono-blue commander. I really love Hullbreaker Horror, Diluvian Primordial, Sludge Monster, Sphinx of Uthuun and Metallurgic Summonings for this build. Hullbreaker just breaks the opponents. Nobody wants to do anything. Diluvian Primordial will cast all instants and sorcerys from all opponents graveyards and exile them while doing it, thats just ridicoulous. Sludge Monster is an easy way of removal and Sphinx of Uthuun just is Fact or Fiction on a stick. Metallurgic Summonings is a beast on its own. It will explode your board state and basically will let you cast your graveyard over and over and over and over and over again. Combined with a Peregrine Drake, this will pretty much go infinite with a ham sandwich. Bonus: Riptide Laboratory is a nice utility land, because it will protect your commander, if nescessary. I will happily implement some of your cards, especially Master of Waves seems way better than Talrand in this deck. Luckily, I ordered a Sower of Temptation the other day, without really knowing what to do with it. Thanks for the inspiration. What baffles me most about this commander is the unique way it's mono-blue land-ramp. And I got way more Instants and a lot less creatures than you do. My playgroup hated Orvar v1, and they still hate todays Orvar-Iteration. Great commander and thx for the video

Storm Kiln Artist in ramp. Flame of Anor draws you two cards, AND 5 damage to any creature, OR destroy artifact, assuming you have a wizard in play. Haughty djinn has the graveyard power, in addition flying, mana cost reduction. Bria, Riptide Rogue from the upcoming set can make make multiple creatures unblockable, at instant speed, serves as an effective alternative commander. Harmonic prodigy I believe gets around Rielle's once per turn condition, if the copy and original spell go on the stack at the same time??? Izzet has got a whole lotta of love in the modern era.

Interesting. I'm also building around Svella, but focused more on lands than artifacts. I have a lot of "each player sacrifices x lands" like Ember Swallower and Keldon Firebombers, functionally making it so Svella and my other mana sources can run the deck landless. I also have land recovery though, like Conduit of Worlds.

Cleric class is another great life gain card. Cosmos elixir card draw and life gain. Panharmonicon doubles etb effects (like the soul sisters) Mentor of the meek and mesa enchantress are both good for card draw. Sram the articer is good for card draw if you are planning on playing auras or equipment. Book of exalted deeds is good for converting life gain into angels. Kor celebrant is more life gain. Speaker of the heavens is good for angels if you can get more than 47 life. For ramp extraplanar lens, land tax and sword of the animist are tough to beat.

I know this is an older video but the card Bramble Sovereign is amazing in the 99. It is a 4 costed creature (2GG) and whenever you cast a creature you may pay 1G and put a token copy of it into play. This allows you to copy your token creating creatures, your damage dealing creatures like Terror of the Peaks and anything really.

If you want to get funky with Ishai triggers, you can play Eye of the Storm and Hive Mind to make you and your opponents uncontrollably cast huge amounts of spells (unless they opt to not cast spells at all but they won't) and Ishai can get REALLY BIG REALLY FAST

i did brew him with thrasios to get into temur. i use 25 slime against humanity and legendary creature doublers and etb draw enchantments to cycle through the deck. to top it all of i play a mizzix mastery to get the slime against humanity all again to flood the board with oozes

The manabase could really use a Smoldering Marsh, Sulfurous Springs and Foreboding Ruins. They're all very affordable duals that usually enter untapped.

Casting a bunch of instant and sorceress won't eon you the game. And waiting to assemble a 4 piece combo is way too unreliable. You're not playing kess for this.
