The Pool of Siloam, where Jesus is said to have healed a blind man, will soon be opened to the public for the first time after approximately two thousand years.
The pool, located in the southern part of the City of David archaeological site in Jerusalem, is cherished by Christians and Jews.
It is currently being excavated by archaeologists and will either be opened to the public piece by piece or once the entire site is unearthed.
Plans to open up the Pool of Siloam were announced just before the new year by the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Israel National Parks Authority and the City of David Foundation.
The site was built around 2,700 years ago as part of Jerusalem’s water system in the eighth century B.C. It served as a reservoir for the Gihon Spring from which water was diverted and stored in underground tunnels.
The reference about Jesus and the pool is mentioned in the New Testament’s John 9. It reads: “He told him, ‘Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam.’ So the man went and washed, and came back seeing.”
Traditionally, the Christian site of the Pool of Siloam was the pool and church that were built by the Byzantine empress Eudocia (c. 400-460 A.D.) to commemorate the miracle recounted in the New Testament. However, the exact location of the original pool as it existed during the time of Jesus remained a mystery until June 2004.
During construction work to repair a large water pipe south of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, at the southern end of the ridge known as the City of David, archaeologists Ronny Reich and Eli Shukron identified two ancient stone steps. Further excavation revealed that they were part of a monumental pool from the Second Temple period, the period during which Jesus lived.
The structure Reich and Shukron discovered was 225 feet long, with corners that are slightly greater than ninety degrees, indicating a trapezoidal shape, with the widening end oriented toward Tyropoeon Valley.
What was the function of the Pool of Siloam during Jesus’ time?
Because the pool is fed by waters from the Gihon Spring, located in the Kidron Valley, the naturally flowing spring water would have qualified the pool for use as a mikveh, a bath used for the purpose of ritual immersion in Judaism to achieve ritual purity.
However, it could also have been an important source of fresh water for the inhabitants in that part of the city. One scholar has even suggested that it was a Roman-style swimming pool.
Whatever its original purpose, the Siloam Pool, where Jesus healed the blind man, is an important Christian site, and its discovery represents a watershed moment in the field of Biblical archaeology.

Sincerely after the diaspora (when the Israelites and Christ followers were persecuted out of their homeland yet stayed culturally as the Jewish nation throughout all the nations till they were able to return in 1948, and continue to return as prophesied) God does his correct timing. I believe God allowed the truth to be hidden until time for truth to be revealed. Really think about how this tiny nation and those from the tiny nation that followed Yeshua as Messiah (Jesus as Christ) spread throughout all nations due to persecution but during that time the things of Israel were hidden and continue to be hidden till the right time for things to be revealed. Everyone needs to study scripture for themselves. Jeremiah 29 says if you humbly seek the Lord with all your heart you will find the truth.

No one but the head priest (from the family of Levi) could go into the holy of holy’s and only for the sacrifice on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, but if you are a Holy Spirit filled believer, like scripture says Samson was, the Spirit of God can dwell in you and as Christians say, those people are temples for the Lord offering their bodies as living sacrifice to the glory of God, dead to sinful ways, but alive in the messiah able now to approach guard because atonement has been made by Jesus, the perfect lamb who was slain, The Isaiah 53, John three, Savior of the world, whose by his stripes we are healed.

people are mistaken on the location of the temple by a LONG shot! The current labeled "temple mound" was only a Roman fort. the actual Temple was right by the spring here! If the Jews wanted to build the temple in the correct location, they could build it by the spring where it's supposed to be RIGHT NOW!

The first instruction given at Mount Sinai: Exodus, שמות, Shmoht 19:10 Moshe spoke to the people saying, "Wash your body and your clothes for two days and on the third day EH-Heyeh will meet you, and do not have sex with your wives." Tyson was the meeting place of EH-Heyeh. Being clean is the requirement to meet him. The Temple was close to the Spring of Gihon. The stairs are going down from the Roman Fortress Antonius to the Temple, the stairs being built to put down insurections. The Temple is in The City of David, Samuel 5:7.

I hope a pray that those who constantly condemn the Bible and the word of God as not real and a book written by men , that’s so inaccurate and full of errors, but who’s never opened it up and read it cover to cover for themselves. If they would only give God a chance , they’d see for themselves that not only was it written by the Holy Spirit but it proves itself throughout all of history and is 100% accurate and without errors, not a single one. And for my Jewish brothers I hope and pray you’ll read Isaiah 53 for yourselves and you’ll quickly and easily see and understand the prophesied messiah Yeshua was , is and forever shall be the King of the universe, creator and sustainer of all things both seen and unseen.

What of the Temple being IN THE CITY OF DAVID as the Scriptures / old writings attest to. Too many are, for different reasons and purposes invested in the Temple being on the Fort Antonio area they hope to be determined as the Temple Mount. It is so jokingly funny watching these persons twist and tort themselves into trying to make the golden Dome sight work for them, that they so easily fool their own mind THAT WATER CAN FREELY FLOW UPHILL, thereby denying THE NATURAL LAW OF GRAVITY. It is not stupidity on its own, it is stubborn ignorance akin to constantly trying to fit size ten feet into size five shoes because of being ashamed of having big feet. The Christian and Muslim communities are invested in the Hebrew Temple being on The Fort Antonio Military Complex Sight, therefore taking it out of the City of David,so it is out of the direct control of THE ISRAELI PEOPLE and government . Thanks much for the tour.

The reason that the distance from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple mount seems so strangely long to us today is very simple: The Temple was not located there. It was, in fact, located very close to the pool, just to the south of Siloam. They actually did not have to walk very far at all to get to the Temple grounds. The Second Temple was never on the "Temple Mount" as commonly and lazily assumed in the past by archaeologists who jumped to erroneous conclusions. The famous "Western Wall" is not the western wall of the temple mount. It is actually just the western wall of the platform for the Fortress Antonia. Eventually this will become clear, even to the most blockheaded humans on the face of the earth: Archaeologists.

Pool of Siloam means "Sent" Greek Pool of Shiloah means "Conducted" Hebrew Shelah Siloah 225 feet wide The water is from the Gihon Spring. Read the Book of Genesis chapter 2 "A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. " They were the Pishon, the Gihon, the Tigris and the Euphrates. The latter two still exist, and speculation places the first two in the same region. Ancient Mesopotamia -" Between the rivers" or what is currently known as Iraq, just North of the Persian Gulf. The first river Pishon means Great outpouring, full flowing, fully diffused, spread out, real existence, perfect sustainability, being carried to its highest degree - one of the four rivers of Eden and it flows round the country of Havillah, Pure gold is found there and also rare perfume and precious stones. The second river is the Gihon, it flows round the Country of Cush. Cush was the Father of Nimrod. Cush is traditionally considered the ancestor of the "land of Cush", an ancient territory believed to have been located near the Red Sea. Cush is identified in the Bible with the Kingdom of Kush or ancient Sudan. Africa was called Cush, Cushitic and Cush! The term Cush is in the Old Testament generally applied to the countries south of Israel. It was the southern limit of Egypt - Read the book of Ezekiel chapter 29 "Ethiopia" Psalms chapter 68,Isaiah chapter 18 and Jeremiah chapter 46. Ham was the Father of Cush - Nile river - Egypt and Sudan. Read the Book of John chapter 9 Dearly beloveds around the world. Ancestor Noe or Noah son's were Read the Book of Genesis chapter 9 and 10 Japeth - The eldest migrated North - European Nations Shem - The second born migrated to the Asia pacific Region - 14 Generations to JESUS CHRIST, MESSIAH and ANOINTED ONE. Ham - The youngest migrated to the African Nations. This is a Big Family FEUD.

Ja, ja, ja... Not the first lie. So, why they didn't open the main road to the public yet?... 🤔🤔🤔 Because it DOES NOT LEAD in the direction they expected.... The Holy Temple WAS NOT located in what is nowadays the Muslim compound... They did a secretive dig inside the DAVIDSON Archeological park.... I asked... nobody was willing to give me info. The pool of Siloam should be changed to POOLS of Siloam.

They did give you proof of the Temple Mount and what it will become but what they were saying didn’t fit into your narrative, so you dismissed it! God is coming and He will correct all the wrongs and make them right!

Literally speaking, both statements are true. Yet, we JOY in the truth (meant to write "proof", but will leave as printed). Gideon wanted clarity, not proof.
