One of my friends who is a Christian once told me that praying 5 times a day can only be a mechanical process where the prayer becomes an act of recitation and not devotion. For a few minutes I felt tongue tied as I couldn't think of a proper reply...but after a while I said....Mashallah it is the very remembrance of God that draws one to the act of namaz and even if it is done mechanically too, it is done in fear of him..then I started thinking why she thought there was a lack of devotion here...and it was also an eye opener for me. As humans it may not always be possible to attach that level of commitment to prayer. But you can desire for it and work on it sincerely till it becomes possible everytime you do it......and Zahid I believe at this point Allah will appreciate your niyyath..
