@@mangshu21 i mean, if your dendro mc is running 130-150% ER, or the seed gets burned it will suck. But you can run them at 230% as solo dendro, don't bother on good artifacts, and as long as the enemies are inside your Q you are fine. Unless your account and characters aren't well optimized for dendro team or you don't know what you are doing; that's the only way to think dendro MC are bad as character. Their caveats are very easy to come by and allow you to play hyperbloom, bloom nilou, burgeon, quicken teams

You're right about that I don't need Nahida to clear the abyss but I had to pull her just to replace Dendro Traveller. I need my Traveller to be free from Dendro and having Nahida as a replacement, I can keep my hyperbloom team. However other Dendro characters doesn't fit that role the way I hoped for. She can simply be used as green Albedo who works vs bosses. Nice off field damage in infinite aoe. She can be used as EM buffer, healer, battery. She might be worse than Mona or Sucrose in that role but chances are, she'll be good enough. She's also the best shield breaker vs elements dendro works on.

Thoma is still theoretically the best character for Burgeon, but Yanfei could potentially be the best on-fielder, as she's a Catalyst. I haven't tested any of this though, so take my words with a very large grain of salt.

I'm glad you said what you said about "must pulls". To add to this, there is no 5 star you can pull that will get you back the gems you spent to get the 5 star. There is no competitive meta in Genshin so you really can just pull who you want, learn how to play them, and get pretty far / have fun playing.

Answer: No Reason: There is no such thing as a "must pull" character. There are characters that can be significantly beneficial, but realistically all the content can be completed with 4 stars. Now I have noticed, that on mobile I gravitate towards stronger teams. Especially in the abyss. While on PC, I am willing to use teams that are interesting albeit maybe slightly less powerful. I picked up Nahida this banner, and she is indeed nice. But even though I had her at 89 with talents at 4/8/7 and 922 EM, 154% ER I didn't use her for floor 12. I tried a few od her teams out, but I ended up going back to my favorite team from last abyss Yaoyao/Fischl/Keqing/Kazuha and XQ/Zhongli/Hu Tao/Yelan. Of course it should be noted that the teams I ended up using are quite strong. But, it goes to show that most people who have been playing a while, and who have invested resin into their teams, probably don't NEED Nahida. The detail that pushed me to pull for Nahida was how good she is at collecting plants and stuff. That's an SS tier feature.

About the Widsith discussion - another great thing about front-loading the damage where possible, is that if you kill enemies or reduce their health quickly, you get more energy particles from them. This means you can get away with less energy requirements and build slightly more offensive stats overall (then you get even more front-loaded damage and even more front-loaded energy). Having said that, if you can't be bothered to min max for specific chambers and you use meta teams, it's perfectly possible to clear with ER weapon and ER sands on all your sub-dps characters. I like my 300 ER Bennett

I almost never use dMC since I got Nahida, especially since I also got Yaoyao... But yeah, sure... I mean, dMC is ok-mediocre unit, yeah. It was clear to me from the start it's nothing amazing. I've been playing Prototype Amber on my Nahida since her release and honestly I cannot go back. Not having to worry about energy requirements at all combined with more flexible teambuilding because I don't need a dedicated healer in most teams because of it is really nice. Used Prototype Amber on Nahida on the Abyss cycle where floor 12-2-2 is the Golden Wolflord and 12-3-2 are a lot of Rifthounds (I think it was the patch after her release?). Since I'm running a Hyperbloom team and my 4th has to be a Geo character, I had to slot in a Geo who would be more useful than just a sub-DPS (so not GMC or Ningguang) or Noelle whose shield gets penetrated through by the Rifthounds. My team had to be Nahida with Prototype Amber, Kuki Shinobu with full EM, Ayato for on-field Hydro application (I run Rational on the other side, so Xingqiu is busy), and Yun Jin to buff Ayato and break the Wolflord's shield. Nahida helps with the off-field healing so that Kuki doesn't get dropped by a Rifthound sneeze.

Let's be real - Yaoyao rarely will be better option than Nahida with Prototype Amber. Yes, I've already tested it enough. Yaoyao is only great when she stays on-field, so for Nilou-bloom. I dunno why Zajef is talking so much about fav for Nahida. I can be useful, yeah, but not very often. Prototype Amber is already more useful.

Tbh the "no unit is a must pull" take is a correct one, but it doesn't help players who want quick answers to which unit should they really pull if primogems is a factor, and most people are lazy enough to sift through every guide in youtube to know Nahida's true value. Most people also aren't mechanical gods so having really strong characters like Nahida are a huge investment. Imo Nahida is really close to being a must pull.

in aggravate you can simply remove anemo unit. No longer any hassle with VV. Can easily slot in a healer, buffer, shielder. Zhongli even gives omni res shred which Nahida benefits from, unlike anemo variant. Beidou is a great third electro instead of anemo - she also shreds electro res but provides a lot of electro damage, damage reduction, shield.

YES. Thanks for this comment. People are too attached to standard team templates. Nahida provides so huge value, that it easily can be more worth it to change anemo to triple electro or Zhongli or Kokomi, than changing her to Yaoyao Not mentioning that Nahida on Prototype Amber is also still almost always better than Yaoyao, especially when dendro application is top important - like on current floor 12.

Nahida’s biggest weakness is in multi wave scenarios where you have to keep swapping her back to apply her E. If we have a character who applies dendro similar to Albedo’s E then that character could be better than Nahida in terms of dendro app. It’s be even better if the character somehow gives direct damage scaling similar to how Kazuha turns EM into elemental damage bonus.

For me a dendro layla will be a reliable substitute for nahida, baizhu kit is weird imo the shield have to be broken to apply dendro and that just for single target while layla have a durable shield that shoot homing missile, her burst is a mini ganyu's burst now imagine if it's dendro....

What we're missing is a Dendro Xingqiu. Basically, a fast Dendro applicator that's not a circle impact. Baizhu's dendro applicator is too shit so it doesn't fulfill that role. Works fine in Quicken but not in HB.

Exact situation with Yelan. People hyped her so much and say she's a must pull. She's not. She'll be a great addition sure but you don't need to have her. I don't have her and I'm still doing fine. You can always work ard the teams as long as you invest in the teams that you have. Like Zajef said, you can always use an inferior teams. Genshin is not a game where you're locked behind paywall etc. And genshin players have this weird mindset of a strong character means the other character are trash which is far from the truth.

Yelan is a must pull. If you don't have her, you're shooting yourself in the foot in every regard. Playing with or without Yelan is a complete night and day. She's almost as versatile as Xingqiu (and every single player bloody needs at least two Xingqius, preferably three). She runs by far the fastest of any character in the game and if you grab her c1, she has effectively infinite sprint because she regens stamina during her Es. If she's c0, you can cycle her with Sayu or Kirara E hold (or Scara air dash). She's a tall female, so she runs, climbs and swims fast eve noutside of her E, unlike Sayu/Mona/Ayaka/Kirara. She has strong charged shot in gigantic aoe making her far superior to even Ganyu for overworld hunting. She has strong E which can raw oneshot small mobs, vape oneshot medium mobs, her burst is quite spammable and strong enough to clear any wave of enemies in one dps window. She's the ultimate carry of friendship teams, being able to solo most world bosses or domains in 20-40 seconds. You don't have her. You claim you're doing fine. It's possible. However it's also possible that you're not. It's quite likely you're just coping because you don't want to admit you made bad decisions after listening to manipulative people who told you that you don't need her. Genshin is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Taking extra time and struggling to clear any content in satisfactory manner because your teams are full of inferior options isn't fun for majority of people.

If I listened to ppl, I would have Hu Tao, Ganyu, yelan in my teams. If I listened to ppl I wouldn't have pulled for Cyno. But no, it's because I rather pull for characters I LIKE and wants to play with to have FUN. We're not talking abt speed run here. The point here is no character is a must pull. If you dont like Yelan than you don't have to pull for her because there's other options and that's the point I'm making. And no dude. I am not coping. No one manipulated me because I know what I need or want for my roster. I am doing just fine because I've been beating abyss before Yelan and even now after skipping her banner twice. So you don't need to make all these assumptions abt me being manipulated or coping just because I don't have Yelan. I already have xingqiu and have a variety of teams comps. Using characters like Alhaitham are what I call fun for me. And if you think having fun in a game means being a metaslave than sure you do you but many other ppl have fun by pulling for a characters they WANT. You talk abt how game is supposed to be fun yet here you are dictating what characters ppl are supposed to pull to have fun in your terms. 🙄 So take a chill pill and go sit down. Not everyone is 'coping' because they don't have Yelan.

Yelan is a must pull. If you don't have her, you're shooting yourself in the foot in every regard. Playing with or without Yelan is a complete night and day. She's almost as versatile as Xingqiu (and every single player bloody needs at least two Xingqius, preferably three). She runs by far the fastest of any character in the game and if you grab her c1, she has effectively infinite sprint because she regens stamina during her Es. If she's c0, you can cycle her with Sayu or Kirara E hold (or Scara air dash). She's a tall female, so she runs, climbs and swims fast eve noutside of her E, unlike Sayu/Mona/Ayaka/Kirara. She has strong charged shot in gigantic aoe making her far superior to even Ganyu for overworld hunting. She has strong E which can raw oneshot small mobs, vape oneshot medium mobs, her burst is quite spammable and strong enough to clear any wave of enemies in one dps window. She's the ultimate carry of friendship teams, being able to solo most world bosses or domains in 20-40 seconds. You don't have her. You claim you're doing fine. It's possible. However it's also possible that you're not. It's quite likely you're just coping because you don't want to admit you made bad decisions after listening to manipulative people who told you that you don't need her. Genshin is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Taking extra time and struggling to clear any content in satisfactory manner because your teams are full of inferior options isn't fun for majority of people.

im a cyno main, and i felt a small amount of regret when pulling nahida cos she didnt felt too much of an upgrade VS DMC, cos she's just more damage in Quicken. And in multi-wave enemies in abyss, i prefer DMC cos i wont have to swap early away from Cyno on his burst. Now i dont'regret her at all cos i just pair her with Cyno VS bosses that runs away most of the time, like the Terrorshroom.

Just for reference, in honkai impact 3 for any1 who played it, try looking at the top 100 in arena with every player using the same characters and with full gacha gear on specific bosses. Or even without looking at the top 100, try clearing it with whatever f2p setup and see if like you can get 46080pts on SSS-dificulty which is like the "36-star" on arena at least to get all the base rewards. That is what you'd call a must pull, and not necessarily saying that it's pay2win or you need to whale but pulling on the right characters or gear for current state of meta hi3rd is in. Genshin just doesn't have that level of competition or even difficulty, to clear endgame it's simply just "beat floor 12 every chamber in under 3mins" for the full rewards, and a lot of the characters even with 4-star teams only are good enough with the right investment. There is basically a lot more flexibility in building teams and it doesn't matter if you clear 30-secs faster with a meta team than a non-meta team since you get the same rewards as long as it's cleared under 3-mins. Technically there isn't a "must pull" character, but there are high value pull characters that if you own would make life easier but at the same time the game doesn't restrict your progress if you don't own these specific characters.

Also Sucrose should be on field here to trigger Fischl A4 and C6 because nahida can’t trigger Fischl A4 with spread. Meaning that running PA on sucrose = less EM sharing, less swirl dmg, less aggravated swirl dmg. So yeah, it works well because the team dps is top meta but hmmmmge it’s cursed for sure.

I'm a launch player and decided for the first time to go for cons because theyre will be no more new worthy units till 4.0 and kinda tired of getting new units just to deal the same damage but in a bit different way. Like, I have a lot of great 5 and 4 star units so that they'll probably last me for years to come and I still will be doing great in Abyss unless HYV change something and decide to powercreep. Going for her c2 for big pp damage because I've been literally using her hyperbloom team nonstop since her release. Even if 4.0 will be non-dendro version, I still won't feel bad about getting this boss of a unit to c2.

I think her c2 only gets better as more dendro/electro characters get released. (Maybe even hydro characters.) The defense shred on quicken is insane and the ocasional crits on bloom reactions is something that's unique to her c2. It's like having a global constellation on any of dendro related reaction teams. Quite worth it if you are a light spender like myself. (But please don't feel forced to spend money for a free game)

Nahida is kind of cringe for a salad team, but I still like playing Nahida, Fischl, Kazuha, Barbara. When it works it's a fun team, but the DPS isn't always enough to 36 star the abyss.

Knowing from the beginning that 'must pull' is ALWAYS objective term and never was about subjective one, then bringing up 'pull for whoever you like' is like dodging the question. If this game's hard contents are easy enough to be cleared with some investment, then any character that easily helps you lower that requirement over that investment IS the must pull unit. I don't think the term of 'must pull' is static, it should be adaptive and relative to a certain context, just because existing characters have been able to do it, new players keep on coming and they shouldn't walk on our path when we knew damn well that a lot of things have changed now for new players.

Not gonna lie I'm so tempted to get her to C2 cuz I love electro characters and any kind of bloom reaction so increasing the power of the whole team seems fun but My lvl 80 C0 Nilou with C0 Nahida, Xinqiu and Yao beat wenut and so does my Kuki hyperbloom with C0 Nahida tho with a few more tries (raiden hyperbloom have even easier time) so... I'm not sure. I know chasing bigger number once you pass the hardest content doesn't make much sense but my monkey brain just cannot resist the temptation I'm really not sure if I want to pull for her cons or waiting for 4.0 characters cuz that is a really long time and I have no interest in any of the leaked rerun nor baizhu. Really the only downside of Nahida is that if you keep killing waves of enemies too quick, your E might still be on cooldown for the next wave of enemies, especially if you hold her skill. This is bad when you would want to off-field her.

One of the big reasons I want her is that I love mechanics that make grouping less important. I think this is one of the main areas where they can explore niches, inwards radial knockback would be cool since it affects big Vishaps etc., grouping on different elements, just a straight up dmg share onto a marked target.

​@@exiaax Yeah, can't count on anything, sadly. A dmg share would also be a sick way to make single-target characters more versatile btw. Let's say it shares 100% of the dmg for simplicity, vs. 2 enemies: A character that's already doing 2x dmg now only grows from 2x to 3x, whereas a single-target dmg dealer just doubles their very high 1x. 100% sounds very broken vs. exactly 2 targets, but the same principle holds up with lower multipliers. This'd be very nice for all those double-boss setups, no more suffering trying to keep them together, in my dreams anyway. Bonus points if they can be a driver with characters like Xinqiu, Fischl, Yelan and probably an Anemo, maybe hyperbloom or even aggravate/spread
