Elvis played piano He played guitar. Watch it live in 1970 You're such a lovely person, thank you for playing Elvis the most iconic man in rock n roll. You brought a lot of memories back with these songs, my Nan used to play Elvis as well. I'm not surprised he was nervous. He was in the film contract for too long. 33 films were really not necessary and his manager should never have signed him up for so long.

Well done Zak - I really enjoyed this. This show was captured as one of the ten shows that RCA recorded in order to achieve material to compile what would become the In Person album. All ten shows were finally released in their enirety on the superb 2019 box set - Elvis 1969 - where all shows were wonderfully remastered. Just a wee nudge here for a future reaction - as sublime as these August 1969 shows are, his greatest ever show is widely regarded as being 12 months later - 12 August 1970 Midnight show - for a variety of reasons. The majority of the show was filmed by MGM and is avalable on KZbin and the show is also avialable in audio format too. Keep up the good work.

You have to remember Elvis was kissing women and dancing, so it was pretty fluid considering the antics. He did a lot in 42 years. Saw him twice in concert and I can't tell you the aura this guy had, not only his looks but he had this way of personally touching just you, it was so personal. the lady back up singers were "the sweet inspirations' that he had heard that were backup for Aretha Franklin, he loved them and believe it was quite unusual for a superstar singer to pick a black group, in that era. He did the Beatles, to show respect you know they went to meet him in the 60's and they just stared at him for a while and then he said "If we aren't going to play, I need to go to bed". Then they all laughed and Paul and he did guitar together. Elvis sat in a chair and they sat on the floor circled around him like he was God. Funny. those to this day among many say Elvis was their influence, Bruce Springstein , Bruno Mars, Garth Brooks, Elton John, Jimmy Hendrix, Britney Spears, Tom Jones, Wayne Newton, Bono, Cher, Mick Jagger, Micheal Bluble', and on and on. Sometime you need to react to what his TCB band members said about him. They said he always had a joke and a smile never hassled them, but joked all the time. Especially funny was the time John Wilkerson said he and James and Ronnie in the middle of a Vegas show, rolled some marbles across the stage, Elvis laughed harder than anyone else. he thought it was hilarious. His poor father who handled finance nearly had a heart attack when he threw the gem studdered cape out into the crowd in the Hawaii special. It was estimated to be worth around 20 grand. He didn't care about money and gave a lot of it away. See" Elvis Presley 200 Cadillacs" that was insane. Thanks for this great reaction, so enjoyable and do many great comments. I appreciate you.

I think for his big concerts, there was a comedian while people were waiting for Elvis to come out. Other than that, just his musicians & his back up singers. Elvis adlibs at times & Are You Lonesome Tonight is one that he adlibs to at times …. Well, he did it one time & someone in the audience did something in response, & Elvis started laughing & he just couldn’t stop through the whole song. It was being recorded for television & so they put it out as a single & people loved it. The songs Elvis did in the late 60s & through the 70s are Amazing.

He told them he liked Hey Jude & Get back .. they said they'd be honoured if he sang them. Afterwards, he told Sonny West, ^I like those guys but what the hell is wrong with their teeth" lol They said that without Elvis there would be no Beatles. John Lennon said, " Nothing affected me until I heard Elvis. Quote from John Lennon "Before Elvis, there was nothing"

Its great to see the younger generation enjoying Elvis's music. Can I just point out without disrespecting your enthusisum Elvis never shoved anything up his nose. He was totally against street drugs. Anything Elvis took was prescribed by a Doctor. He didnt even drink alcohol. He was so passionate about his music and putting on the best performance for his fans. Iam surprised and upset that the older generation in your chat never explained this to you. When he gets tongue tied thats not the effects of drugs thats pure raw nerves. Hope you continue to enjoy Elvis's music and his performances. Take care

@@zakkthrowbackAs said above, Elvis Never used illegal street drugs. He sadly had an addiction to prescribed medications, as many others have had, & many are suffering right now. Even more sad is that the Dr who travelled with him & cared for him at Graceland, was only too willing to hand out medication to Elvis, because he had taken personal loans from Elvis. Addicts crave what they are addicted to, & Elvis was no different to anyone else who has an addiction. From 1974 until his death in 1977, he was suffering from several medical problems & was in pain, & was using more prescribed drugs than previously. His heart failed him in the end, just as it had done to his mother, who passed when she was 46 of a heart attack, & he father who died of a cardiac arrested 18 months after he lost Elvis. He was in his early sixties when he died. And Lisa Marie also died of a cardiac arrest … in fact she had three cardiac arrests on the day she died. She was also addicted to prescription medications. Elvis’ on-stage persona was extrovert, but off-stage he suffered badly from anxiety about performing, even though he loved it. Before his concerts, he would sing gospel songs with the Sweet Inspirations. His father usually travelled with him, as an emotional support.

Sweet Inspirations were his backup singers, same as the Imperials. Tom Jones & Elvis had become close friends & Tom used to join Elvis & family on vacation in Hawaii. In the Ghetto was written by the songwriter Mac Davis that Elvis introduced. He had offered it to Sami Davis Jnr who turned it down, saying he had not grown up in poverty. He suggested that Mac offer it to Elvis, because he knew his friend had grown up in poverty & would do the song justice. Elvis’ manager said it would destroy Elvis’ career if he recorded it, but Elvis wanted to draw attention to the plight of thousands of poor people living in America, & he went ahead & recorded it. It was a Number One Hit for him … & of course that put a lot of money into Mac Davis’ pocket too

1935 on January 8 a huge star was born, but sadly in 1977 on august 16 we lost a great musician, a amazing singer, but we also lost a amazing humanitarian that helped so many people that he did not even know. Today over 46 years after his death, people are still calling Elvis the King of Rock'n'Roll (he said that Chubby Checker was the one that should be called King of Rock'n roll, if any human should), Elvis didn't like that title and he believed that the only King was God and he actually told this to his fans several times, he said: I believe that God is the only true king, sometimes he added Jesus Christ. I think that Elvis is a MASTER not only of king of Rock'n roll, he is A MASTER of many genres of music because he can sing very well in any genre, but what do you think, is he good enough to be called a music king? Elvis was really in my mind, a MASTER of GOSPEL and other music, no one does it better then him, he is best known for making Rock'n roll famous, so he was called The King of Rock'n roll, but he never liked that people called him that, he repeatedly stopped fans who said that he was the king of rock'n roll, telling them: I'm just an entertainer and singer, God is the only true King (sometimes he also said Jesus Christ is the only King)... He also never liked the "so called joke" Elvis the Pelvis, he loved Jokes, but that was for him very hurtful to hear people say, or write that. Did you know that Elvis was a Sandy Blonde with Blue Eyes... Elvis was born in the poor part of Tupelo Mississippi (in a shotgun house) and it was mainly Afro Americans living there, at the place where Elvis family lived there only lived 3 more white families, the rest was colored people, his family was dirt poor until he became an artist after singing in a mainly colored peoples church during his childhood. Did you know that he had several friends that where Afro Americans, one of his friends where James Brown, yes THAT James Brown (The King of Soul), another artist was B.B King, yes that B.B King... He also was a good friend with Mohamed Ali, yes the GREATEST boxer of all time, he even had a Robe made for him, but it was to much bling on it so Ali wouldn't where it more then one time to a fight. Elvis really admired Martin Luther King very much, Elvis felt that all people are equal, unfortunately he never got to meet him, that would have created to much problems for both of them at that time. He had several medical problems, Glaucoma, (Insomnia) sleeping problems, irritable bowel syndrome, things that affected his real life and made him need medication to function. Yes, he took medicines that today are considered to be called drugs, but at that time doctors prescribed it to him and to ordinary people, they did not know of the problems it could give people (side effects). He never took any so-called street drugs, but unfortunately he did not realize that those medications would be a problem for him, he thought that they where ordinary medicine because his doctor prescribed them to him and to everyone else that needed it. Many out of his relatives died at a relatively young age, so even if he wouldn't have the medication, he might have died at about the same age. He could never be alone and thus himself, at that time the word superstar did not exist, so nothing could prepare him for that kind of life. Did you know that a big group of white people actually smashed his records and wanted to ban his music, just because they called the music he did so called N... music, that is so painful to think that some people actually can think like that, skin color is just color and nothing more, when will people start to realize that? There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he actually conducted his musicians and back up choirs all the time ! He is the only person to have 60 records gone to sell Gold since he died. Elvis is also in almost every genre of Music Hall of Fame (5 that I'm sure of Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Gospel, Rockabilly and Rhythm and Blues), if Gospel is a genre in Music Hall of fame, then he should be in there to, but no one else is in more then perhaps 2 genres. Not bad for someone who failed in his music class (in school, he got a F), he also never took a single singing lesson, yes he sang in church so perhaps he learned a little there, right? Something else that people tend to overlook: He always conducts his musicians and backup singers, he never gets credit for being able to doing that. Imagen you are a singer, you have great Musicians, you have great backup singers, no Guest Artists, no Auto tune, no Lip singing and no Fireworks, now all is about your skill, could you handle that pressure? At the time when Elvis started to perform, Auto tune did not exist yet and when it became available, then he still did not use it, he did not need to, he always sang so that you could hear every word that he sang, the Fans always felt that he sang to just you ! That is what Elvis did in over 1600 concerts (during his 20 years as an artist), despite having problems with his health, like his Glaucoma, the headlights must have hurt his eyes like crazy. He sang over 800 songs, I wonder how he could remember them all, he never wrote a song himself, so he had to remember other peoples lyrics, well that is amazing in it self. The fact that he had Glaucoma must have been difficult being in the headlights all the time, that could be why he sometimes closes his eyes, but also sometimes squinting! This unfortunately made him temporary blind after the shows, that is why they led him of the stage and into his car, that is something that not many people knew about Elvis. Elvis suits was made of 100% Polyester, or 100 cotton (I'm not sure witch one), it was originally a karate suit (GI), it was very light, but it was hot, so it made him sweat a lot, he got some bad press about that, but if you give it all then you will sweat, it should be positive, right? A important fact about Elvis success is his guitarist James Burton's sound, it was a big fact that made him sound different, naturally his voice is the main factor for his success to, I think both things played a crucial role in his success... About the deep base voiced JD Sumner (a member of The Stamps Quartet) he is a Basso Profundo, I think it's called that, it is the deepest base singer there is. A video about him helping others, look at this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaOtYpZvqdJgeZI Elvis made a show where all the money went to build the Memorial after Pearl Harbor, he talked to the nations about taking the Polio vaccine, Elvis took the first injection himself, he helped by donating a big amount of money to St Jude hospital, they fight against cancer (especially children with), he gave away loads of jewelry, gave away cars, he even gave away some houses to total strangers. Elvis started an organization that helps people to get out of Homelessness (Presley Charitable Foundation), this organization helps people even now close to 50 years after he passed away. A thing that you perhaps did not know: Elvis ALMOST NEVER did a show OUTSIDE OF USA, yes he did sing a few times in Canada: 4 concerts, 2 times in Toronto, 1 time in Ottawa and 1 time in Vancouver (during the 50:s?). When the Aloha From Hawaii (Live in Honolulu 1973) was showed it had close to 1.5 Billion viewers from around the whole world and 3.7 billion people lived on earth at this time, so it was close to 1/3 of all of the population on the earth that viewed the show, it was the first time a single artist was shown LIVE around the globe. Video of Mohammad Ali speech after Elvis died: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoCbfKSVaLCHr6s I have to say that I loved being at Graceland and seeing his home, first we were at the shotgun house in Tupelo Mississippi where he lived in his early years, he was born there ! You don't have a guide taking you on a tour, you can go all over yourself, but stay outside of the ropes and do not attempt to go upstairs, the outside is huge, so is the house, but you don't realize that from the front of the house. I don't regret for a second that I was there, or that I stood at his grave site and said out loud that this is for the humanitarian Elvis/the person/the man and then I gave him a military salute, the others there just looked at me and asked if I didn't like his music. So I told them that he was clearly one of the best singers and artists ever, but I loved his big heart more, he helped so many people without getting credit for it, he didn't want the credit of helping others, he did it out of love and respect and to me that is what true charity is all about. This PLACE (GRACELAND) should be a protected part of music history and also American history forever, I think that people will keep coming for years and years and years to come ! Elvis did lots of things for America to, he helped in a big way to avoid getting Polio (he took the vaccine in a TV show and that made the interest for taking the vaccine to go up from 0,6 % all the way up to 80 % in 6 months), so in 6 months he got 79.4 % more of the American people take the Polio vaccine and shortly after it was eradicated from USA, he also helped in the fight to defeat Cancer by helping to build up St Jude's children cancer treatment clinic by donating a huge amount of money to them, he also helped to build the Memorial over Pearl Harbor and many other things!

There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he actually conducted his musicians and back up choirs all the time! If you like to listen to tributes, then these might be good: The Memphis Lallaby (If you love Elvis music and story, this might make you cry) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnO9oJ1nnMuSjLM Love Me Tender (James Brown): kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKOlnGONetejfrc Walking in Memphis (Marc Cohn): kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpi1kpmIpZKDY9E The Letter (Wayne Newton) This might even contain Elvis written chorus, I don't know if it was his words, or not: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHOVqX6tbLtnbK8 . I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists: Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Freddie Murcery, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley (if I could hear Elvis sing some duets with Lisa Marie to). Would you go and watch them perform if you could, or who would you like to see and hear if you could choose anyone???

When he had introduced the writer of "Runaway", Del Shannon, two days before, the person who went with him, Bryan Hyland, another great singer, Shannon was so nervous, that he hid, so Hyland had to tell the person who manned the house lights where to point the lights. "He's heeeere, " After the show, they went to visit Elvis.. And they were the ones who were totally stoned, not Elvis, who had done two shows that night. Hyland who sang "Sealed with a Kiss" , is to Elvis right. Shannon, who wrote "Runaway", killed himself ten years after. To the question on whether he did those unknown blues songs in the 60's, the answer is no., as he didnt tour in that decade. The ones that are not known like "My Babe" and "Baby what do you want me to do " are 50's blues songs he DID NOT do in the 50's. In 1969, there were no acts before him, except a comic and the Sweets. . As to the high voice in "Are you lonesome tonight" that is Cissy Houston, Whitney's mother. "Words" is one of the Bee Gees's 1960's. song. In "Yesterday", when Paul heard that he changed the words to "Stud"., instead of "Man", he found it funny. Paul is the one of the four Beatles who really adored and still adores Elvis. Not Lennon, as commonly thought. The difference was that one was obsessed with him, Lennon, and the other Paul, was not, but really loved him.. Remember Elvis did songs and played with the audience, in "Hey Jude" he was all over the showroom. "In the ghetto" is Mac Davis's composition for him. "Suspicious Minds" here heard is the longest of his versions and it was a blast, because this guy wouldnt stop, at all, with the moves, when he wasnt singing. People who saw him go on for 7 minutes couldnt believe it. Finally, Elvis doesnt come back for an encore. He does "What I say", immediately after "Suspicious Minds" then closes with "Cant help falling in love " His voice is awesome. cdn.grmag.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/113/2024/07/Bryan-Hyland-Elvis-and-Del-Shannon-HI-293x300.jpeg

According to what I’ve seen on the internet, from several sources, Elvis did 636 SOLD OUT concerts at the International Hotel up until his death in August 1977. Every concert he did there, was Sold Out. I know the three concerts he did in 1972 in Madison Square Garden, New York, were Sold Out … he was only supposed to do two concerts, but they were so quickly sold out, that a third concert was put in …. Each concert had an audience of 20,000 & Elvis broke the Record for those Sold Out performances, & held it for a number of years. I think his biggest concert was to an audience of 60,000 …. Was that at Omaha in 1975 or 76?? Not sure where that biggest concert was, or what year it was.

My only problem is with the level of the sound. It seems that for every reactor that wears headphones and what I hear from my phone is two separate things. This album from 1969 is historical but with much louder and clearer sound levels it would have played like a 2024 release!.....

Fun review of a great show although you still have to discover the two performances that overshadow everything else: the 1968 sit-down concerts (June 27th 1968). Take a look at that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roi4oYOKaax8b9E Just the real, raw Elvis.

Hello, Zack. in one of your videos you proffered a list of books you will be reading. However, you omitted child bride, which is the about ex-wife in Germany about three months before his discharge... Remember she wrote the book around I think 1987.The movie Priscilla is based upon this book.My question to the fans is, if he is the love of her life why would she write that horrid book Elvis and me?And why would she make that movie based on the book...Hum...

hi Zakk!! Elvis Presley'a best vocal rock performance during that August 1969 Las Vegas engagement was his take on Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode", which he sang twice only, and both on the same day, August 24, 1969, at the dinner and midnight show. Someone did a video of the midnight version and dovetailed it with at least 50 Elvis "moves", most different to each other, from 1961 to 1973. Hope you enjoy this., You can NOT sing this song better than he did. And any other version he did, of this same song, live, from 1970 to 1977, was never as great as this one. He was the only singer who did the Johnny go,go,go,go, saying go four times back to back, and he did it three times in the same version of the song. . A professional singer at work, that is Elvis here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/maDKnYWLhdeIm80

Elvis during his talk right after Hound Dog mentions, “weirdo” billionaire Kirk Kerkorian aka “The Godfather of Las Vegas”, the owner of the International Hotel and Showroom where Elvis performed. Priscilla ended up dating that same weirdo later on, in 1977. The year Elvis died, no less. Kirk made Priscilla sign a non-disclose agreement about their relationship, a habit he had with the women he dated, apparently. To force her to remain discreet in public about the two of them. The man had been a victim of too many female gold-diggers/gossipers…

I actually think his raspy sharp voice was ruined by Gatorade until it became the soft voice of 72-77 which wasn’t bad but it was only good for opera like songs
@ronnienose86082 ай бұрын
No. He just got bored of his old rock n roll songs and would speed his way through them and then move onto the bigger, more emotional tracks that became of greater interest to him. His range seemed to.increase as he got older, so the Gatorade would have had a negative influence on that. In fact, the drink would have more likely roughened his voice if it was to have any affect on his vocal cords.
