I’d take a sponsorship from o-Light! Love that brand.

Still on Cat5e on a WIFI 6 1gbps network
@DaBuzz926 ай бұрын
I did same solution like presented in this video but my problem have been discovered when I switched connection from 500mbps to 1G. Second layer of my Network was flying fluently with little more than 1G but shitty modem cable causes variations of download transfer between 600-900mbps. So for me, probably better quality Cat 5e would do the job, but I found sweet, short, piece of OEM cat7 cable. So for me - Yes, cable quality can do the difference but in case when you steuggle with Old shitty cables 💪

Thanks for the great information and yes the modem can cause the speed variations as well as the router. I use cat8 for my ONT to router but that's probably overkill. Thank you for watching!

You will not see any difference between cat 5e, 6 or 7 at 1gbit speeds. My 2.5gbit network was running fine with 5e cables. I even got full 2.5gbit speed through 18 years old cat 5e cables in walls, probably 20-30m long (that were installed when house was built). I did replace all short cables connecting computers and switches and routers with cat 6 and 7, but I did not want to replace cables in walls, since they weer getting 2.5gbit speeds. I will probably want to do that down the road, when I want to move to 10gbit network, but in that case I would replace them with optical cables.

Good decision William. Cat7 is for power users with massive networking needs. I just wanted see if Cat7 would increase internet speeds and it really does! Thank you for watching I really appreciate it! Cheers!

in a typical house, you won't even need cat6a, just normal cat6, cat 6 is good for 10 gig service up to 55M, or about 180 feet, and cat7 and cat8 might as well not exist, if we get to the point we actually need more bandwidth then what cat6 and/or cat6a is capable of delivering over the rj45 connector, then at that point the better option will be fiber, or copper direct attach, not any of the cat standards, hell, there isn't even any actual consumer hardware or even prosumer hardware that has the gg45 connector you need to take advantage of cat7

Well I use Cat7 in my house. Definitely overkill, but I thought why not try and future proof. The cables were easy to install. They are flat.

I use Cat6a mostly and some Cat7 and even Cat8. I agree on future proofing your Network. Someday you will get high speed internet and you'll be glad your wires are compatible with those high speeds. I'm not sure if you've seen my video on Cat8 but here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZOZYaVpat6psKc Thanks for watching and for commenting!
