Professional basketball is not outdoors because of the Sun, it's a big factor when you always need to look up to grab a rebound or shoot.
@ThePickleballJonesАй бұрын
It’s not outdoor because it was originally played in a gymnasium. And, although the flooring has changed throughout the years, hardwood has been a staple for a very long time. Not to mention basketball is played during the winter in places where it snows. Anyway, this is a long-winded way to say it is not the sun.
@cesarduran6611Ай бұрын
@@ThePickleballJones there are a lot of factors, most of them related to the weather, but the most important thing here is that pickleball should be played indoors all the time
@scotttesar7156Ай бұрын
Agreed - played with a lightweight whiffle-style ball that is DISTINCTLY affected by the wind, pickleball is best played indoors..... as Zane said - anything over 10mph has a distinct effect on the game, and because wind gusts are inconsistent....

You mentioned a big TV contract..... Once that happens we will go from watching hours upon hours from Thursday through Sunday - down to probably 2-4 total hrs of each tournament. Then the average pro will be irrelevant and unknown.

Football is played both indoor and outdoor and I don’t hear them complaining as much as pickleball players when they have to play in the snow, rain, wind, sun. You just have to deal with the conditions you’re given. Great conversation guys. It was entertaining. Thanks.

I was agreeing with everything you were saying Zane until you started going along with the little pre school bouncy bouncy serve
@kimleith1378Ай бұрын
A bit late on this pod. Jay got called in Vegas a ton. Put a ref directly behind the server. Ditch the idea of a shorter service box. Drop the power limit and add spin. A 4ft jump would make things interesting. Change the ball or put a MPH limit and let manufactures make a paddle any way they want.
@GoldenPickledАй бұрын
That is an absolute horrible take. Remove spin limitations? Allow companies to make whatever they want? The serves would be absolutely horrible and totally elusive. Why not just show up with a padel racquet if there is no regulations on “paddles”
@kimleith1378Ай бұрын
@@GoldenPickled If MPH has a limit, say 45, then I think manufacturers would not waste so much on R&D and focus on other things. That Zane serve exhibition was like you say impossible to return, but they were all amatures not pros. I do see your point though.

Courts, hey sometimes the golfers have to play in the rain. Play with the conditions you get, each player does.
@scotttesar7156Ай бұрын
Difficult comparison to make, as golf balls are solid, relatively heavy compared to the wind, unless it's blowing 40mph plus...even the PGA has deferred play on tournaments where the wind was moving golf balls on the putting surface... A pickleball is affected by a much lower wind-speed, and depending upon direction relative to the court, can have a significant impact on each team's conditions.... I still maintain that indoor offers the most consistent conditions for all players, plus offers climate-controlled playing conditions to mitigate extreme temperatures and humidity.....that way, the conditions are equalized for all participants...
@iantercero5380Ай бұрын
I hate rally scoring. Makes you play not to lose. Make MLP normal scoring and lower the total number of points to win to 9 or 7. Players will play harder, games will be shorter so it’ll be good for television.
