Why Americans are Flocking to BGC 🇵🇭 (Bonifacio Global City) | Philippines

My take is this based on my short experience of living here in the philippines for a year and a half. I lived briefly in a smaller province town and currently live in a Baguio, a much larger city in the mountains. I have visited BGC, and for the rent price of a condo in BGC, I am renting a four bedroom furnished house in Baguio for 40K or currently $687.94 usd. It's all about the convenience of living, really. A condo in BGC affords you the luxury of convenient living. Everything is within walking distance, close to major airports and major hospitals. There are trade-offs, so it really depends on what kind of lifestyle you want when you get here.

Can't believe BGC is 25 years old already. We use to hang out at The Fort strip 25 years ago, watching the UFO building in front and shopping at Price Smart now it was replaced by SnR. Time flies indeed.

It depends on your budget and lifestyle. If your budget is lower and you prefer the simple country life, in my opinion Bohol is the best place in the Philippines. Plus plenty of luxury on a budget

First phase of Metro Manila Subway Project has already started, when it’s completely done it will serve the cities in the north of Metro Manila all the way to airport Terminal 3.

Not too high paying, those banks are mostly just service centers and commercial banking. Very little M&A activity or trading being done from Manila. That is mostly Singapore and Hong Kong.

While it feels like an isolated area in the Philippines, I hope no one thinks it is not possible elsewhere. Ayala, Ortigas, and Cubao offer the same feeling. It's just that they came first before BGC so BGC has the benefit of improving on previous iterations.

Ridiculous prices in those restaurants. That could really break the bank if you're eating out in BGC every day. That area might be good for keeping an apartment as a base for island hopping, etc., but living there full time would almost be cheating one's self out of a real Philippine experience. I mean , I can eat good food and live in a trendy condo like that anywhere in the US, there's nothing special about it. Just my opinion, I'm sure others have theirs.

I suggest not buying just rent. The 300K will make more money invested in annuity to pay for your rent. It's kind of hard to resale sometimes.

Zane, enjoy your videos. I have been to BGC twice, but stayed near the Venice Mall area which is nice ,but would rather be near High street area. I am retired high school math teacher from North Atlanta, GA. What is name of condo building you stayed at , and can you get those rates if you sign 6 month lease agreement. I am in Da Nang Vietnam currently, go to Thailand for 3 months and then back to BGC area, any info you can provide greatly appreciated.

In some restaurants they add 5% to 7.5% service charge to your bill. Here in Baguio, I see 5% added at some places, and in BGC, I saw 7.5 added. A lot of restaurants may not add anything, and its up to your discretion on what you tip. Hope that helps!
