The thing about the meaning of the zanpakto only really clicked for me after I had both read “The Sword is Me” and understood the Buddhist journey to Enlightenment. I always knew that Bleach drew heavily on Buddhist tradition and mythology, but it never really registered how that impacted the development of the zanpakto. Before that, they were just unique swords with cool names. The fact that they were all the physical proof of one’s self-reflection and actualization hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything about them described the Reaper’s everything, including the swords’ names. Ichigo’s own Tensa Zangetsu meant the “Fate Severing Chain”, or something similar. It’s why he so often found himself at odds with the powers that governed the world. He was the Fate-Breaker, the Mind Monkey.

Ichigo and his inner Spirits and epic hybrid power will always be iconic in the world manga/anime. More so since he overcomes his inner demons and protects, anyone else with his powers would go full mad tyrant.

The longer blade is the one representing the Hollow while the shorter blade is the one representing the Quincy. It's the longer blade Ichigo uses to primarily fire his offensive Getsuga's, which is fitting for the representation of the spirit that encouraged battle. The shorter blade is the one he uses to fire those defensive Getsuag's, which fits with the spirit that wanted nothing more than to protect Ichigo from the horrors of fighting.

I really liked Zangetsu(alongside Sukuna), he often spit nothing but facts directly to Ichigo's face during the Arrancar arc tho despite Ichigo at the time before TYBW, still denies it, especially when Hollow Ichigo made the Instinct speech. Basically telling him "Hey man, if you don't keep your head up in the game, imma just take your place, and then start killing, you hear me?" Type of warning.

Throughout his adventures in hueco mundo, Ichigo’s views on hollows changed dramatically. Not only was he able to come to terms with white but also learned that hollows have a right to live. He befriended Nel and felt protective of her. He and Orihime were continuously treating the arrancars like humans. Which is all the more deep considering hollows were part of their tragedies. You just don’t have that sort of dynamic with the Quincies. I don’t mean a sob backstory but an undermining theme regarding the sternritters. Most of the fights in TYBW are more great because of the soul reapers

The Quincy fight for their right to exist. Whether it be against Hollows that are toxic to them or the Shinigami that treat them like bugs in a system. Yhwach takes the existential dread that the Quincy face and turns back onto the Shinigami and the Three Worlds.

Yeah unfortunately not even the quincies thought the quincies had a right to live. We just needed one Quincy to object to all the bloodshed. Even Bazz and the bambies both were guilty of killing their own without remorse. I hope there anime can maybe give Uryu a chance to voice this issue.

@ I find it extremely hilarious and hypocritical that the leftover Quincies offered that no other sternritters will get in soul society’s way. Since those 3 nutjobs spend their time turning against the other sternritters prior to Auswählen already. So no Quincy to get in anyone’s way before episode 31. Nanana being set up as literal bait for backstabbing to convince the soul reapers. Crushing from the tower like deadweight. Giselle’s smug face makes my blood boil yet again.

Idk how people can be soo blind that, they can't see BLEACH has Peak Writing Literally! The Best subtle Characterization in All of anime. Best Power System, which is intertwined with everything. Best Villains, and Freakish Characters which still make Sense. Peak Character designs & fashion ofc.. like in other Anime You know they're trying to push Fashion into the serie, like recently One Piece has been doing too, It's good but Feels like that was a pushed into serie, ...While With BLEACH everything just Falls in Nicely, it's only untill later that u realize damn those guys were Drippy as hell, ....Fashion is not only about clothing, like they do in other Anime, it's also about the Grace and the Charm of Character, ....Kubo gives Fashion to his Character based on What they are, in this Arc or just overall as a person, ....Kubo knows how to Load your Subconscious mind with a Tons of Info which if Told to our faces might have not Worked. Best Human to Supernatural dynamic in Anime, Cuz after a while most Anime, including One Piece n Naruto start to have Feats which shouldn't be possible according to their plot. Best Sound😭 , Shiro sensei's best work was in Bleach. Best lineup of Female cast actually serving a purpose (subtle) to story rather than having Antiques but nothing too crazy, like in Tokyo Ghoul, One Piece, Full metal Alchemist, AOT there are tons who failed at that, and ...It's totally normal for shonen to Not utilize Them so well, But Bleach just did Man, sure it's not in your face, But nothing in Bleach is 'In your face' to begin with, it's just a treat Understanding all the female Chracters and what they had to go through to to be what they are now. I personally empathize with Hallibel, Rangiku and Orihime more than Yoruichi & Rukia, cuz kubo only gave Glimpses but it told Whole Storie about them. People keep forgetting Soul Reaper aren't humans so.. they won't die untill You sever their soul chain & soul sleep, or just dissociate their Reishi bodies. I feel ichigo Shikai Quincy Sword Being short is a foreshadowing for his Status in Hell Arc prolly? _Kubo is a GrandMaster at Picking up right where he left off, ...So it's nothing surprising if he's able to selflessly resume The Story._

It is very much part of that trope though. It's not an exact 1:1 to the Ninetails from Naruto, but it serves a very similar narrative function. Honestly now that I wrote that, it actually feels like White is a much better inner demon trope representative than Naruto's fox is. He represents Ichigo's insecurities about lusting for battle and wanting to mercilessly kill his foes. Very much on-par for an inner demon trope.

White is ichigo instinct and instinct is a natural, unlearned, and predictable response to stimuli, while inner demons are someone inside the character that cause pain. Its true that white is originally a hollow but when he merge to ichigo natural shinigami power he become part of ichigo soul in a form of intinct.

@iamcoachmark8327 Then that means that White is an "Inner Demon" both literally and conceptually. He's a being that can take over Ichigo's body and he also represents Ichigo's darker self/mentality (that part that he doesn't want to show). Making him the most accurate depiction of an Inner Demon.

"Shinigami" is jargon that means nothing to an English-speaker. If you want to translate the art, sometimes you have to translate the proper nouns too.
