Back in the day, when I first heard Splinters, Zao blew my mind. They are the reason I picked up a bass and learned how to scream. They have consistently put out music ahead of it's time and I'm proud to have their logo from this album inked on me. Amazing this album came out in 2004 and metalcore has finally caught up. First: holy shit dream gig. Second: this riff is the most haunting I’ve ever heard-but for me it’s the intro version, before it speeds up (which is like a cherry on the cake really) it’s got that perfect combo of aloof drumming and a bass that sounds like bombs going off at your face.

@ericchambers68635 жыл бұрын
@@alextownley9388 Yeah, there's no doubt that good, even great, newer m-c bands are around. I'm not sure what OP means by "relevant back then". Especially since the era of bands I think he's referring too (Botch, Converge, Zao...) were either ostracized by the metal community or kinda hanging around the hardcore and punk kids. Metalcore was not relevant in the mainstream or underground. It took a number of years, innovation and hard work to legitimize the style. We all know that by the late 2000's, metalcore essentially blew into mainstream levels of attention (good and bad thing).
