8月20日，李显龙总理在国庆群众大会上宣布，政府将推出“共同前进配套”，特别关注处于夹心层阶段50岁至64岁的壮龄人士，1973年及更早时候出生的新加坡公民都可受惠。该配套由三个部分组成，政府会根据受惠者收入和公积金储蓄的多寡，分层提供援助。政府为此耗资70亿元，为大约140万名较年长者提供退休所需保障。

Just curious why uncle a lot of saving is using in his children education. In Singapore studying primary school and second school is quite cheap the fees. But not sure JC or poly. And studying university normally is can borrow for 🏦 bank or borrow one of parents CPF when you after university study. Working than paid back to your's parent cpf account

You want the same pension scheme but are you ready to pay the same taxes rate as Europe, 47 - 57.5%? In Singapore low income of $20,000 you are free from tax, for $30,000. you pay less than 2% and CPF OA is paying 2.5%, SA paying 4%. Still can complain not enough.

Majullah package doesn't benefit those 70 yrs and above who are retired and suffering from chronic illness, are not qualified to enjoy the package. This group needs more assistance than those senior citizens who are employable. Another, outdated Means Testing, need to look into it, cannot base on total family income earners eg both parents retired and not working and the only child earning 10k divided by 3, this 2 unemployed parents will not qualify for grants etc. If the child is earning 10k and is still single, that doesn't mean the child will give half his income to the parents. The child needs to save money to buy an hdb resale flat and prepare for a family in the near future.

Not enough. You need to work till you die ... with the raising cost of living. Only those who are rich, with high income jobs, have the luxury to really retire. Having the Majulah Package is good but the cash subsidies / payout to a person should be increase yearly as living cost increases yearly. It should be adjusted. And, if the cash subsidies / payout is based on the amount that one has in the CPF, then should it not be those who has more CPF get lower amount of cash payout/ subsidies and those with lower CPF get more ? This way, the majulah package really gets to help those who of of lower income with less CPF saved. Otherwise, it seems to benefit the rich more than the poor / those in need.

Not everyone is born equal ... some are not good in academic studies, hence cannot get well-paying jobs. Even if you have a job an office job, it does not means that all office workers are paid with high income. Even a managerial grade has quite a wide range in pay scale. Only the top level / management level gets high pay / high income. And these management level position is few in any company. So, should everyone aim (make a choice) to go into finance as working in finance pays well ? Everyone should make a choice to be doctors, lawyers? Also, if one has low disposable income, even if one saves, he/ she can't save much. And bank interest rate is not high. Should these people then use whatever small amount of savings they have to invest in the hope of gaining more? But what about the risks? High returns , high risks. Can they afford to do this?
