"In the past, we used traditional methods like putting food tuner in a woman’s mouth to flush out the placenta after childbirth," said Zara Sanda Adam from Mashamari Central Ward, Jere LGA. "But after receiving MIYCN and IYCF training from GHIV Africa, we’ve learned that initiating breastfeeding within 30 minutes of birth naturally helps the placenta come out. We now understand the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for six months, as all the nutrients a baby needs are in breast milk, without needing water or food. This has brought a huge change, and we are also enlightened about family planning and birth spacing through breastfeeding. We are grateful to GHIV Africa and the IRC for these life-changing lessons." This initiative is funded by International Rescue Committee
