You two sound like radio experts! Which shows do you guys run??
@TheMattmanPart13 жыл бұрын
@@darrinmatthews3778 That's a bit of a leap, and being a radio expert in this case is also quite irrelevent here. What they are talking about is the fact that Patrice, Ant, and Bill having the chance to riff together and make the world laugh on a public forum was a rare thing, and now is something that is impossible to ever replicate, since Patrice is gone. Opie doing whatever shocking thing he could do for attention since he couldnt keep up with them, was literally preventing potential comedic history from being made. Whether it was assaulting Patti/female guests, harassing interns, pressing buttons repeatedly, burping into the mic, or taking retarded callers to interrupt a conversation, he was always interfering due to his insecurities. Times are different now, so all we have left are these episodes to reflect on, so the world has to unfortunately continue tolerating him as they're trying to listen to their favorite legendary comedians who once had a chance to be in the same room together. We're all very grateful to Opie for having this show so comedians had the opportunity to be able to get together like this, but if only he'd have just kept his mouth shut and let them work, the show may have been able to continue. It doesn't take a radio expert to realize this, it's just common sense.
@lockandreload3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMattmanPart1 it wasn't a rare thing back then. Patrice and Bill were on O&A tons of times. Plus it was a live radio show, not a podcast. No one could have known Patrice would die so soon. And Anthony getting fired is why the show ceased to exist. Even though Opie and Ant hated each other for years before.

I do understand that, but I would seperate Ant & Opie. Ant typically seems to play off the comedians in the room and run with them. He might not be the comedic legend that Patrice & Burr certainly are, but he is still pretty funny. Opie typically tries to pull things in different directions, and often gets in the way of quality comedy moments in my opinion. There is an energy that starts building when these other dude really get going. That energy stops with Opie almost every time. I don't think he understands timing.

At 14:10 prepare to hear the most obvious fake/scripted call-in ever on the show. No one interrupts Patrice for a caller that will likely bomb, yet the likely-employed inside caller 1. goes straight to the point with the show without fumbling. Allows caller to rip on Howard, a key trick for O&A to dodge doing it themselves, and he gives the exact time of the recording and allowing them to play their desired content by seemingly using a caller.
