He came back bleeding with a massive nine foot gash on his body and her…. holy fuck, her death was so gruesome. She was burning up and had like fire parasites under her skin that were cooking her alive. Maesters put her in ice water and they all jumped out of her skin and died. It’s a mystery what they actually encountered in the ruins of Valyria but whatever it was… it was giving Balerion the hands. Most likely a firewyrm or a rogue dragon or something

What I like the most here is how it gives real perspective to Balerion's size. His skull seems to have the same size as we see in the show. Yet I would not imagine this absolutely gigantic beast from the skull alone. It really does not give the perspective of how big he truly was.

Nah, most lords chose him because he was the male claimant. Jaehearys too wanted him, though sadly he was never raised to be king. he was too gullible with no pride of Targaryens. Nobles in feudal system will vote for you when they think they can control you. Plus his opponent was 7 yr old Laenor who had the Velaryon name rather than Targaryen.

He was already very old prior to being claimed by Viserys, but what really caught him was having flown Princess Aerea all the way to Valyria and back, and the injuries he sustained there. I love how Balerion's design here seems to be mostly based on a more elderly Drogon with Vhagar's saggy neck and tattered wings. Viserys not claiming another dragon after Balerion´s death shows how unfit he was for the throne. He tried to be peaceful, but became too soft. The consequences of his wrong decisions were deadly for the house of the dragon.

I believe Targaryen’s can only claim one dragon in their lifetime, so viserys would not have been able to claim another dragon.

She then explains that while many dragons have had more than one rider over time, no rider has ridden more than one dragon. That Daenerys instinctively knows that she can only ride one (Drogon) suggests that riding another of her children would lead to Joffrey's fate (like falling off Syrax because she felt uncomfortable).

when the books said "balerion flew around kingslanding several rounds" i did not imagine him to fly so well and elegant. but your animation makes it feels like balerion is still well for his name, and until he lands we realised he's diminished by age and trip with aerea. cue bronn "you're flea heavy on that dragon", i didnt even see viserys climbing down balerion even though he's right at the center of the camera XD poor dragonkeepers getting fire blasted for nothing D:

God if HBO had patience we could've had a fire and blood anthology series and seen scenes like this. Could've been like the tv show The Crown. Granted we wouldn't be seeing Dance of the Dragons story arc begin for maybe 5 or 6 seasons but it would be worth it!
