Күн бұрын

Tune into this week’s Father's Day special, where my husband Shalabh and our kids dish out the messy truth about fatherhood. Laugh at Zoya's gym adventures with her dad, his desire to look all buff and big for you viewers, and Shalabh’s epic fails at balancing work and family chaos. We explore South Asian stereotypes as Shalabh encourages our daughter to speak her mind and defies the traditional Indian dad mold...something I’m still deciding whether or not I appreciate.

A father's support goes a long way. Zarna Ma'am - I understand how painful it must be for you to not have this whole-hearted support. But you broke the generational curse by marrying your husband who's a good father to his daughter. A job exceptionally well done ✅

Love this dad. Lovely fella, smart, kind, chill, hardworking, disciplined, responsible, caring, calm, big dreamer, articulate, relaxed, sweet, funny, yet remains the strong silent type and lets his wife take the limelight, self effacing, and his pearls of wisdom and witticisms when he thinks he is being very entertaining and relevant are hilarious, even though unintended. Also, loves his wife but hasn't given up on his mom who lives so far away. Adores and always openly praises and raises up his kids. Very unlike the typical Indian male in many ways.

A grade to Shalabh ! He is an exceptional husband and dad . I especially loved that he spoke out during that dinner supporting his wife saying that the reason that they are teasing her is because they know that she will get it right and will be unstoppable. Zarna , you are unstoppable !And you have both done an excellent job in raising your children.

All Indian dads are not the same. I am 54 years old and my dad was very supportive and forward thinking - encouraged me to be independent financially and emotionally. Remember him always saying don’t think there is any difference between a man and woman and never take shit from a man. Feel blessed.

If there was a bad dad award, my dad would be a top contender too. Aunty Z, thank you for saying it so plainly. It’s hard to find a brown woman from your generation who doesn’t justify or excuse the bad behavior or faults of her father. It is weird when you have so many negative memories attached to your father. Thank you for putting it so succinctly and clearly. I appreciate you and your outspoken-ness.

A to everyone. It's heartwarming to see how much respect Shalabh has from entire family and rightly so. Great that he is good example for the kids in how to treat and respect women. And glad that kids actually recognize the quality in their father and that they appreciate. What Brij said is deep, about having a dream. Regardless of how many jokes Zarna makes, it is admirable to see how much she respects Shalabh.

I absolutely loved this episode. Shalabh should be so proud of the influence he has had on his children. He is so calm, composed and such an eloquent gentleman. I also love how he also speaks highly of Zarna and all his children, even during the times when they all tease and disagree with him. A grade to this Dad!

I think not all are same and specifically there are different versions of Bharatiya (indian) Fathers as well. My father gave us (his kids) wings to fly and flourish. And so my friends' Fathers did the same. (Bharatiya) Fathers: Love - he expresses by doing deeds for you. Being there for you when you need him! Trust - he lets you fly with no expectations Respect - he treats you as his pride! Discipline - he applies strictly with no compromise! 😇 One sports, one musical instrument made mandatory of a kid's choice, of course - LOL! Eduation and Nutrition -he makes sure to provide kids best education and best nutrition via nourishing food, apart from mom. Fun - he travels, plays sports, teaches defense techniques ( specially to daughters to protect oneself ) 👍 , enjoys family fun activities, celebrations 🤩 ... Father - the man of less spoken words, lead by an example!! ... List goes on!! At the least myself and my friends are blessed with forward minded, best of the bests fathers!! Bharatiya Fathers rock!! 😎❤ 26:51

To me Shalabh is a mature modern father - who supports his wife 1000%. Doing hard things is very true - however the hardest is to follow your path and be successful to your own expectations and to your true level of want. Education is key. Not everyone is meant to be an Elon Musk or a Jeff Bezos of a Richard Branson not everyone 'wants' to be. The hardest thing to do is to be your true self in the face of cookie cutter mediocrity & empty superficial meaningless ambition. What I love and appreciate about your family The Garg family - is that you are your beautiful and inspiring selves. Don't be anything other than your true selves pursuing what YOU truly WANT at the level you WANT nothing less. Big love .... I so enjoy your sharing. 🙏🏽

Zarna!question!! I watched ALL the Garg podcasts on your youtube (i love them). You mentioned the dinnertable story twice now..this time you mentioned how after Shalabh defended you, the table went quiet...but im dying to know what the response actually was afterwards??im so curious! Like was it just ignored & everyone acted like nothing happened?? & if so, did you notice the peers talk more respectfully towards you & never joked about it again?? Curious on how Shalahbs strong response resonated afterwards!!! Would love to know those details!! Thank you❤❤❤

CIRCA 1990s, BOYS from small towns in INDIA got their lessons of treating girls as equal in their colleges, IIT girls certainly kicks **** ( Read the book, who said she can't by Rashmi Bansal) and their fellow students -boys know that they are equal contenders at all levels., *no matter how conservative family they come from* Ratio of girls to boys then was 1:250. it has improved greatly since then.

Love the video. I do however think that a parent can be involved and spend time and yet the screaming may not always be justified or constructive. I think some amount of discipline is important and inherent in Indian parenting but screaming should not always be justified on the grounds of it being a trade off with involvement.

I think you guys are not aware that so many times in these podcasts you guys stereotype indians in a negative manner. When you say "you are not a traditional Indian man/dad..." And go about how you are better than them. But in reality many of the Indian dads who consider themselves as traditional and are good as your dad, don't deserve to distance themselves from the word 'traditional' or 'trypical'.

I know Zarna tries to act funny. But its ok, if Shalabh praises his mom. We will be in the same place, once our sons are married :-). Even if mother-in-law is never appreciative of daughter in laws (mostly they will be critical), we can give them some credit for raising a good son (fairly good at-least).
