FYI a different muzzle brake would help with the rifle smacking you in the face. The slant brake drives the muzzle down too much, giving the gun a "see-saw" effect. Something with side ports would do a much better job 👍

I put a SVD style brake on my M77 and it did me right

I put a VG6 Epilson AK brake on mine and it tamed it considerably.

Was going to comment this. Take a look at slo-mo of ak recoil. It's pretty visible with the slant comp.

Might be ok after mounting a scope as your head will be higher.Muzzle brake would definitely work however

Had mine since they came out several weeks ago. I purchased some Zastava (so called blem' furniture) and installed after a tad of linseed oil. I drilled holes in the lower and upper hand guard (4 in lower, 3 in upper) to facilitate cooling. I then installed a nice looking muzzle brake from US Machinegun and a Kalashnikov rubber butt pad (really nice). It has the 1990 Yugo look and it shoots very well.

Another flash hider/compnesator may solve that cheek slap like. Picked up a different one for my yugo M70 to replace the slant one and it solved the issue. Kinda surprised that did it for me but it did. Glad you mentioned that i was curious if this one had the cheek slap to.

You guys think this rifle would perform well with a RS regulate mount with LPVO optic for mid-range/long.. Wonder what the accuracy looks like around 300-500 meters..

The safety selector is however notched and will hold the bolt back when put on safe if manually done.

CSspec mags are identical if not the actual mags rebranded for Zastava. I used them in my Russian Saiga .308 I converted. I like the Zastava over the Saiga due to the adjustable gas piston for shooting suppressed and it is also threaded from the factory unlike the Saiga which I had to thread, and the Saiga I had was a hunter model with the front sight on the gas block instead of further on the barrel for a longer sight radius. I'm going to change the stock to something nicer like a Magpul PRS stock once my adaptor comes in. Otherwise, thanks for the review.

I have the US 20 round ones and the Serbian 10 rounds mags for this m77. They work very well. So far I'm enjoying this firearm at the range quite a bit. Interesting you mentioned you preferred the Zastava over the Russian Saiga. I've never owned a Russian rifle (and two of my friends that have Russian SKS rifles, of course, won't sell them) but I've been always been curious about the AK platform chambered in 308.

Are those the Vepr .308 magazine? I am thinking about getting this rifle or the M90 for my first AK, but from some google searching the official Zastava M77 magazines are sold out virtually everywhere which is concerning.

@@-Zevin- I bought a few from Zastava. I knew they would eventually sell out until they produce more. It seems to be fairly hot item despite the fact no one from the shop picked one up on it's initial release except me.

The cheek slap is common with any rifle that has a butt stock that slopes to the rear. The pre-64 Model 70 Winchesters were notorious cheek bashers. Now the stocks, like most modern designs, slope upward or are perfectly straight. As an aside I never had that cheek slap with my M77. Must just be an individual fit or hold type of thing.

Double check the box for the cleaning rifle. It should be in there under the foam.

I saw the M14 magazines adapted to the M77. I was wondering if you could also adapt the BM59 Beretta magazines that have the same type of coupling as the M14 ... They are much more robust, and cost much less ...

Most likely the gas setting was not optimized before filming. Once it is set, the recoil is reduced and as he stated the buttpad is rather hard.

I like my M77 but I have the M77PAP. I wish it was the M77 1980’s pre ban. But the PAP has a better barrel and an improved reserve than the 1970’s/80’s M77’s. I am not happy that the scope mount is not universal with other AK’s and it’s $80+ for Zastava mounts. Mags cost way to much. My HK91 I get mags for $2 to $10 but M77 and M76 are $40 to $80. You can use all M70 furniture on it

We did shoot some groups with it. While not exceptionally accurate, as a battle rifle in 308 it was more than acceptable.

Other guys I have seen do some accuracy tests with them out of the box 3.5 moa with cheap steel case ammo, and 1.5 moa with match grade. Not bad at all for a AK if you ask me.

If you can't hit shit it's not the fault of the AK. It's your fault.My 2 M2010 G's are pretty accurate.With my 308 i shoot 1.5 to 2 moa groups at 100 meters.My 223 is the same.I shoot reloaded ammo cause i had issues with factory ammo. I
