Simprop Zaunkönig (Wren), that was once a very special model, because it was probably the smallest available at that time. 42cm wingspan, 2Servos, 0,49er COX and mostly below the 400gr take-off weight. Today, becouse of micro-RC technology, the old charm is almost gone, but the legend is still alive and we really enjoyed to see this old school bird in the air once more. An insane fun model that was made by our famous slovenian modeler Dušan Remih.
Wingspan: 42cm
Weight: 215gr
Drive: COX 0,49cm³
Reciever pack: 2S Lipo 800mAh

Pilot Robert, Captain Blaz’, You have unknowingly posted a very special video to me.... My father has been passed for 1 yr on the 2nd of May... This reminds me of my Line Control gas engine P51, he purchased for me when I was 7 or 8 yrs old... The very first introduction I had to fuel power airplanes... now I am 47 and this brought back the memory’s!!! I haven’t thought about it in years until today!!! I also got in trouble several times because the engine was one speed gasoline and not on the quiet side when started... Thank you for bringing back this happy memory!

I also had a P51, green in color, didn't last long as well. Put a tank on it just like that one. I also ending up putting it on a balsa wood plane. Good memories about, uh can't remember what year, maybe middle 70's.

I also had a line-controlled plane when I was a kid. I also had the dune buggy and the Funny Car & Dragster. The sound of that engine brings back many memories! I worked at the Cox factory for a short time back in 1977.

Capt Blaz … You did so much better than I when I tried to fly one of these little .049 planes. It took me a month to build it. I fired it up, tossed it, it rolled onto its back and destroyed itself on the ground. Total flight time … less than 2 seconds !! Congratulations !! … and best of luck.

I'm 63 and flew a lot of those. It's a cox golden B. Controlled by a needle valve. The golden B had a larger gas thank. Standard was silver about half size. Those engines came on alot of plastic RTF as well as Carl Sandberg balsa build to fly models. As well as other brands. This motor as well as so many others witch we flew control line was a very big part of my childhood. Back then there was no internet and the ability to share so many things with So Many great guys Like you two. Yet we still made Memories at the park. God bless you two for being Great representatives of the hobby we love and the Brotherhood that should be ALL OVER THE WORLD. Take care my friends and keep ZOOMING. Keith from Minnesota, USA

Amazing ! I still have my .049 after fifty years of flying. I used it in a 2 metre glider instead of a catapult launcher. Nostalgia rings true. "Believe for sure" reminded me of my first engine bought for me by my dad, a Taipan 2.5 cc diesel. That is 60 years old now, and still runs. Funny thing is, the .049 still runs with the original glow head, too. Nice flying once again, Captain Blaž; fast and furious. Lucky Pilot Robert kept up with the speed. You both make a good team.

I used to extend the Babe-Bee flight times by adding a small tank mounted higher up that "drains" into one of the Cox tanks nipples. The other nipple was closed off. I could fly for about 5 minutes if I set the needle valve just right. In SA too. I love Capt Blaz and his videos.

Takes me back! As a kid I got a "Breezy Jr" and Babcock radio control (both kits) for Christmas. The transmitter had a push button which each time you pushed it would operate a relay on the receiver. The relay operated an escapement (powered by a rubber band) which had 3 steps - 1= right rudder, 2= left rudder & 3 up elevator. The receiver took several batteries and the transmitter took a hi voltage dry cell. it operated on the citizen's band. We would fly at the Rose Bowl parking lot where they allowed model airplane flying at least up to the 60's (when nothing was scheduled at the bowl). Took off from the ground. Very stable - more like a free flight with minimal controls. You flew until it ran out of fuel, glide to a landing then do it again until the family got bored. Great times! Don't have the plane any more but still have the radio system.

I remember growing up with Cox .049 engines! Control line airplanes and cars, small but really fun engines. That little plane is a ripper! Good flying as always.

Captain Blas, I found that a 5-1/4" 4 prop works vary well on small planes with Cox engines. The 4" pitch gives it good pull and the 5-1/4" diameter still allows the engine run at high RPM's where they are happiest. I have a Black Widow that I made a home made carburetor and engine mount for. It actually works. I still have to iron out couple bugs, but it revs up and throttles down. I have a lathe- mill combination so I can make things like that. I will send you a video of it running when it's finished. I have a bunch of old Cox engines from when I was a kid. A .09, .049's, a couple .020's, plus my favorite a .010 . Great video keep them coming. I can't wait till the next one.

Here in the US we get the 6 o'clock wind, it dies out usually to complete calm between 7-9pm summer. Early morning in winter, same hours, but going from dead calm to windy. Check your local conditions, it makes flying so much less expensive!!

Great flying by Captain Blaz! Those little cox engines are screamers its a whole new twist flying such a small glow plane. I love it. I built a guillows balsa and tissue p51d mustang and put a cox engine on it and was going to set it up for control line and never got it running or flew it so it was cool to see how it might have flew thank you guys another great video.

Cox 049 my first model engine, then moved up to a MCCoy 35 red head for controline. My father was in WWII as b24 pilot then in 50's got involved in rc when the field was new. I used to chase his planes as a kid as their range was unpredictable. I always found them.

Looks like Capt Blasz could use some expo. When I flew 049 a kid and it didn't start after priming I would cover one gas filler tube with my finger and push gas through till it tricked out the bottom of the motor. This forced gas to flow better. Usually started after that. Love that sound of my childhood.
