During the first part pf the blockout, the creature reminded me of those Hyperspace-jumping-Space-Whales from star wars XD

Hey I just wanted to say that I love your work! Just started sculpting a few months ago and people like you are a huge inspiration to newbies like me. Thx a lot!

You still sculpting? It’s a steep learning curve. I quit so many times after a few years I’m still not good at it. But it’s fun when you sculpt something fairly decent

@@johnosaurusrex9496 not at the moment. But that's mainly because I'm working on my master thesis right now. I want to upgrade my PC afterwards so that I can continue this hobby with some better equipment. What kind of stuff do you sculpt? Fantasy stuff?

My favorite One was the crab man, but now the best One Is this One. I think you missed the caustic of the light on the creature, but probably Is a stylistic choose, this Is beautiful, congratulations 😳 ( Sorry for my english)

Hi MLW, ameizing see monster! :OR. I have a question to you, why started with Zsfers and no do the typical blocking with primitives? And the last question is what is the hotkey or how do you go about making the mask gradient? Thank you :D I love your works.
@MLWCreative3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, so i tend use a mixer of both primitive block out and Zfers in ZBrush. there is no particular reason behind it either. I just like trying different techniques out as much as possible. and to gradient out a masked area in ZBrush just hit the CNTRL button down and then tap on your Model a few times to soften the masked area. anAnd CNTRL + ALT and tapping on the model will sharpen you masked area.... hope this helps

i know these are old, currently studying a VFX course. we have gone over characters and was using Zbrush, i am wanting to do more once i get my own wacom do you have any suggestions on what to sculpt?
@MLWCreative2 жыл бұрын
start off with the basics, anatomy studies. Learn how to sculpt the human form (Female/Male), learn how to sculpt faces, hands and feet. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

I know nothing about Zbrush, but are you able to take this 3D models and use them as assets in video games? Like would someone be able to add animation to them, or is it just a static model? Thanks
@XxSWxX6663 жыл бұрын
Well, theoretically you could export it as a model into a software like blender, rig it, and then animate it. Ideally it shouldn't be posed already but I think this would work.

Short answer is yes seth, however to get to that point requires alot of work, we follow a workflow, my particular workflow currently is zbrush (modelling anything organic) to 3d coat for retopology (this reduces the polycount for being able to use in a video game) this will give me the model for the game called low poly, Then I put it into 3ds max and uv unwrap the low poly ready to be painted, I use substance painter, when in substance painter there is another workflow called high to low baking in which you get your low poly mesh (the low poly version of the model with no detail) made in 3d coat and you bake all your detail in which you made in zbrush this is pure magic BTW. Then you have a full model ready to be animated. I then put this into 3ds max and use a cat rig on the model and animate it then I put in ue4 and I have basically my model in a game. Hope this helps you seth.

@@sketchygaz yes it does. Thanks for explaining. I have zero experience in any of this and was just curious. Maybe if I ever get some downtime I'll try to teach myself how to make my own video game 👍 I appreciate the explanation. So do you work for a larger developer, or are you a smaller operation?

@@sethb9687 I'm in my third year on a game art course, I have been apart of 3 games but they are all low quality, but its experience and learning the techniques and work flows which is important to me. I would say totally do it if you can, it is hard though but rewarding even when doing like a game jam they are still educational.
