Hi Zdenka! When I saw just now that Hohem has released a follow up to last years amazing M6, I cam straight to your channel. You are not the ONLY creator/mentor/entertainer I subscribe to in the camera gear space, but you are in the top spot for this content, and I tell you this not to swell your head, but because its the 100% truth. You, and your content are, in a word: Genuine. Now, to the Hohem M7. I have anticipated Hohem's next release after the fantastic M6 -I had it, with the remote and loved it - but I ended up moving to Insta360 Flow for size and simplicity when I am out with my drones, but M6 was the best consumer gimbal last year in my opinion. A gimbal that would follow and track you really well, without a camera or phone in it! One guy put a block of wood in it, and it performed perfectly. Except for the Video/Photo part, lol!

Great review. I do a lot of videography with my two iPhone, 15PM and 16 PM. Saw the ad for this gimbal on FB and was looking for reviews and found yours. Been using the latest osmo but can’t put lenses on it. The tracking feature is great on this rig. As I am a single camera person I could put that on a tripod and have it film for me. If it integrated with black magic app to start and stop recording that would be incredible, however that can be worked around. Great a roll set up so I can get b roll with my other phone.

The battery life isn't really an issue, imo. If you are hardcore enough to film for 8-12 hours a day, you can also buy a powerbank. If I had one thing to ask of them, it is to focus more on third party app integration. Once the best hardware is compatible with the best software, we can finally compete with DSLRs. I doubt Hohem has the budget to make true pro software, so they ought to focus on the hardware (which they do better than anyone).

Nice review! I'm a DJI Fan but I can see the MASSIVE improvements Hohem has made over the last couple years. The only thing that I worry about is that price. At $300, it's kinda up there and I start thinking once I buy lenses, handles, filters for my phone... Not to mention the complexity of all that for the average person, Whew!

What I always say is first think how long you are going to stay with current phone before you buy lenses and handles and all that as those are the first things that usually are not compatible with newer phones. I am finding that gimbals have longer longevity when it comes to compatibility. I am sure the price will go down eventually though… those are just my thoughts.

@@ZdenkaDarula Completely agree! Built in AI camera was going to be one of the features of the Osmo Mobile 7 but I'm not sure now. The ability to use 3rd party/ native camera apps was definitely on the priority list for the OM 7 design team. I guess we'll see... My only other "complaint" is the folded size of the unit. It can hardly be termed a "pocket friendly" piece anymore. Super nice and feature packed unit for sure!!! I also agree, you need to be serious and figure some things out before diving in. This isn't a "casual buy" in my opinion.

Could you test the balance when the phone’s usb port is holding a receiver (of DJI Mic MINI)? Also, when on the M6 ? Compare the Hohem M7 M6 portability/setup ease with the Insta360Flow and with the DjiMobile6.

Yes it can hold it… M6 is older models and Flow and OM6 are different category more small finals for travel. This one is for advanced filming

Sounds great. Questions 1. Can it carry other cameras (say gopro), 2. Can you stand it on a table so it tracks a speaker who is presenting, 3. How does it perform tracking when another human walks into shot (it did well with the dog but what about multiple humans - suppose its tracking a speaker presenting to an audience and the speaker walks close to the audience - in such situation my insta link 360 loses its tracking)

No, it cannot carry other cameras only it is made for smartphones. Yes you can certainly put it on the table. As you saw the test with dog, it is similar with human…

I have an adapter where I can mount a GoPro or 3'rd party copy and then use it on my M6 gimbal. I have also seen reviews of the M7 where they are mounting the new DJI actioncamera directly in the clamps of the M7. So it is possible to try other type of small actioncameras on the M7, especially now with the new detachable remote control. But, ofcourse, you can't control the camera by the remote control. Any changes, like start or stop filming has to be done manually.

I bought the M-6 about 18 months ago and it was great in terms of features. However, the build quality is poor. I am a person that babies his equipment and yet both axis locks failed. The “Roll Axis Lock Pin” is broken and the “Pan Axis Latch” will not stay disengaged. Hence, I can only use the gimbal in “Ultra-wide-angle shot” mode. I contacted Hohem but they weren't much help. These things are basically disposable. Great video, as always!!!

The M6 is a very fine gimbal. However, I would pay the extra $ just for the monitor. Plus all of the other improvements. Yes the M7 more expensive, but in my opinion well worth the price.

Just get wireless DJI Mic Mini and you don’t need to mount anything… that one will work in Blackmagic Camera app… otherwise any plugin mic will work

For me the AI tracker is not something I really needed as I'm not doing 'selfie' stuff but if it tracks objects I can see some really smooth gimbal 360 moves coming up. The remote with video preview screen I think I would use a lot as I often use the M6 on a monopod to get some unusual overhead POV at parties and carnivals and I have to guess what I am filming - now I can see! The add on stabilizing handle thingy also looks really useful. I need one of these M7 in my life it is gonna make video production even better in the venues and scenarios I'm recording. I'm sure of that. How much is the add on? Also does ithe M7 have a mount thread on the side for external LED flood lighting and magic arm as I'm usually filming night time events

Love the look of this gimbal, it's great that you can use the Reeflex lenses on it but a couple of questions. Can you also use the variable ND filter and adaptor on the lens and also a ssd like the lexar one all at the same time, just thinking of the overall weight? if so its a def purchase from me! So it looks like you had the anamorphic lens on it weighs 120 grams, the 2x telephoto weighs 178 grams, the variable ND and adapter weighs 58 grams. The iPhone 15 pro max and case is 300grams the Lexar SSD and plug weighs 18 grams so the maximum total is 554 grams, it quotes 500 grams max payload but I wonder if might still work?

It is very simple. Just place all your accessories on a smart phone and a weigh it. If it is below the maximum payload, you’re good to go.

Now i have to sell the M6. I NEED this M7. Question. In this video when you were doing the tracking test. I noticed when you not using remote it was good. When you used the remote for tracking then the gimbal was all over the place with sloppy tracking. You did not talk about this in the video. What happened? I’ve just sent the M6 back. Thankfully it was still in that return window. I’d like to add the MC-01, an external SSD, but struggled to find the space and balancing became difficult when adding a lens as well. Looks like the M7 has more space between the phone and arm so could accommodate an SSD. The 500g will now be within all that weight. Dropping, to the reported 12 hrs battery life, from the claimed, 18 on the M6 isn’t a good move. Looking forward to trying out for myself.

@@mslalife562 Don't get me wrong the feel and all the accessories were fantastic, it was sturdy and the tracking feature was one of the main reasons I got it. for me it was the "Set Up" time. took way too long to set up. and was just too bulky and big the longer I had it. The Dji Osmo Pocket 3 for me is just a BEAST for the size and its abilities.

Have been troubleshooting a NEW m7 right out of the box since Saturday as I explained to Hohem through tech support this was a gift for my wife and it’s defective. It jerks in tilt mode, then flips the camera facing down and gets stuck, all 3 switches are unlocked, tried recalibrating. This was the suggestion by hohem tech. “Please try rotating it up and down for a week to restore it to its initial state.” After him having me send several videos for over an hour he then requires me to do a zoom meeting with another tech for an hour. Lol seriously??? Any suggestions how to get this thing to work properly?
