Chara is as a human being so much above the rest that he would stand out anywhere he went. Impressing, humbling, motivating! Thank you, Mr. Chara, for all that you did for the Bruins and the Hockey world as a whole!

his hockey lessons even translate to entire life lessons, like at 2:20:14 "how can you expect someone to play hard for you if you're gonna be mean or disrespectful to them" is such a simple but great piece of advice on having accountability for your own behavior and understanding consequences for not having it

Great interview! The biggest takeaway for me was at 2:16:06 when Z was explaining how the Bruins leadership group impacted the whole team. Often it is the things that don’t show up on the score sheet that make championship teams.

You guys have had such entertaining and funny interviews, but this one should be required listening for hockey parents and kids today. Chara has such a work ethic and hearing what he did - the training and approach he took, sacrifices made, leadership, etc. - this is probably the best true "hockey" interview you guys have done. Amazing listen.

I remember when he first got traded to Ottawa - he was definitely considered "a prospect " but TSN did a story about how much extra work he was doing on his skating he would stay on the ice for hours after practice just working on skating technique - he was definitely a product of desire and determined work . BTW - they should have a special wing in the Hall of fame - guys Mike Milbury traded away it would be legendary

In 2006, the Bruins and Islanders played a pre-season game in Halifax. I was going to watch it with my parents and we ended up going to The Keg for supper beforehand. The Bruins who weren’t playing came in and sat down at a table next to us. Chara was one of them. Kids kept coming up to them asking for autographs (I was 15 and didn’t do it cause I was shy and didn’t want to bother them). The waitress was coming with our food and the ketchup falls off the plate and gets all over Chara and his white shirt. The man is a giant and he shoots up and almost smokes his head off a wooden crossbeam. He was super chill about it. Awesome guy.

What a great interview, with hockey guys who understand what it takes/took to make it. Part luck, mostly the 100% effort. BigZ had quite a ride. Damn,...I cant even imagine what it would be like having to skate forward at him and thinking there could be a way to get around/tru him. Lets face it,...hez a guy you would have loved having on your team,...just so you wouldnt have to play against him?!. Thanks BigZ,....I loved watching you play and you definitely brought a LOT to the game and Bruins. When they mention Stud or Horse as Dman descriptors I think of you. Cheers.
