I just discovered Zeal and Ardor and instantly fell in love with the group. The blend they have is unique and raw, something that's hard to find in todays music.

Its not about purism. Its about consistency. If white people are constantly berated because they did something that someone not white might have thought about doing in the last century, then we should all stay in out niche. If people are going to be treated unfairly, then the at least it can be even handed. Its worse if only one group of people is treated unfairly, and the rest are treated well.

Zeal and Ardor is one of the best things to ever happen to music. Plus Emanuel is fucking adorable and down to earth, which makes me love the band even more. He can sing, scream, AND shred that guitar. He genuinely understands metal, something very sacred to me, and how to manipulate it and morph it with other genres into something twisted and dark and beautiful. I think I'm in love. I have Zeal & Ardor's debut album and think it's really inventive by throwing new elements (field hollers and early delta blues into modern metal (there's some industrial stuff in there too). I didn't know he was American, not that it matters. Looking forward to what "they" do next.

Perhaps a full discussion would clarify this, but I might agree with that. Check out the late 80's Colombian film: Rodrigo D which includes bands with an early bm sound. I also remember interviews about Mayhem trading tapes with South American metal bands for influences. Also, Varg was wearing a Von t-shirt at his hearings.

I think there's a difference between being a bonafide activist and a hypocritical asshole with a superiority complex, imo. I don't think 'SJW' is *necessarily* an insult, but it's definitely used as one (and most people who are called "sjws" usually fit the stereotype).

When I first listened Zeal and Ardor I thought that it is bizarre and shocking and also good. Because irrelevant type of music genres were mixed together but the result was really good. I always loved avantgarde metal with bizarre attitude so Zeal And Ardor got my attention and admiration. Haters are just ignorants, I listen to black metal for 19 years and I never thought something like "black metal has to be pure" I love pure black metal so much but we need fusion bands like zeal and ardor. We need to broaden up our perspectives about metal and music.
