Great video, very informative! I would love to see one on orange cheeked waxbills, I don’t think you’ve made one on those yet? Whenever I do research there isn’t much info out there on those guys, so if you have any tips and tricks would be great!

20:22 guys watch out when you are breeding with dominant birds don't breed with two parents that both have that dominant mutation, because you can get chicks that have the dominant mutation two times and that is lethal.

If you want to breed dominant mutations then breed with only one dominant bird. Normally 50% of your chicks will show the dominant gene and the other chicks will not have that mutation.

Thank you for doing this video, I remember awhile ago I had commented asking for this so thank you. I have been trying to breed a triple orange isabels but I’m really struggling. If you would like to see them I put a video up on my channel.

Thank you for this! I have two parent zebra finches that are standard grey in appearance. They had four babies in December. Two of the babies are turning out to be standard grey males. The other two look like chestnut sided white, and if I understood you correctly they should both be females right? The chestnut flanks are not there, no scalloping on the throat, cheeks are white, tops faintly grey.

Great information on zebras nice explaining on genetic , I've had them in the passed with my diamonds doves they were bullies always harassing them on their nest, so now I have a area just for them I'd really like the fawn color really nice I also would like to breed black cheeks thanks again

Yes I have a love hate with them. I love some of the mutations and how easy this species is to keep. But they can be pushy to other species which can add some complexities in a mixed aviary.

Triple orange pied?!?!?!!! 😮 Can that happen? I'd like to see who you're breeding to who and separating in order to try to get something new!!
