Thanks for the video! Same issue, totally burnt buck converter. Any alternatives to the ts8484.....? Thanks!

Thank You! I was able to fix mine aswell but removing this switching regulator even with decent hot air (atten st-862d) was pain in the ass, cuz powerpad dosnt want to get off :)

Excellent repair video. I have picked up a free one that everything seems to be working except the paper feeding mechanism. After checking the motor pole resistance (4.8 ohms on both coils) I think the motor is fine. Do you think it's the DRV8818 stepper controller that could be busted? It's really hard to try to power the unit on and still have access to the backside of the PCB where the DRV8818 is. I was probing the motor connections on the top side while pushing the feed button, but all I got was 0.5V on pin 2 that was charging up to 0.5V rather an instant on. This tells me that there's something wrong with the stepper driver. Not sure whether you have any insight into this. I guess I could just replace the IC and see what happens.

no idea, 0.5v seems a bit low. try adding some wires to the important pins (vcc, step/dir/enable etc.) and measure while its running.
