It's definitely a hexapod - notice how the legs move in a stepping pattern. It would go totally wrong if all motors would just run like wheels. And try out 0:52 with wheels :) Check out other videos of the RHex robot as well. It crosses all kinds of terrain where driving robots cannot go.

Interesting robot, but I would not call this a "hexapod". It's actually a wheeled robot, but with funny-shaped wheels... :) (no offense! I still think it's a very cool one!)
