Zedd - Clarity (Porter Robinson nurture remix)

I take the Clarity Remix as a sort of recognition that Porter is now proud of what he once refused to put his name on because it was destined for the radio. I feel like because of this remix, he's looked back into the music he's made in the past, and becoming willing to accept the stuff he's done in the past as part of what made him become who he is today, and willing to take ownership of it, even if he knows it's not the direction he was meant to go

I'm so confused by this song because it's known as "by" Zedd and Foxes. Seems like Foxes was an inspiration for the song and it was written for Louisa's voice, and Zedd produced, but the actual song writing involved Porter Robinson and Skylar Grey and this other guy... Like... I want to know what happened, because it seems like the people most responsible for the song got the least credit. I'd be surprised to learn the lyrics weren't mostly Skyler. Maybe the vocal melody too. Why would Porter not want his name on this epic banger?

@@mgmchenry Actually, in an interview with BBC 1, Porter himself had stated (keep in mind, this was back in 2014 when Worlds was Porter's big project, and his attempt at a style change) that Clarity was a collaboration between himself an Zedd, but Porter wasn't fond of the end result of the track, so he had his name taken off of the main credits for the song, leaving Zedd and Foxes as the only two people on the song credits

@@mgmchenry The instrumental was initially just a Zedd and Porter collab (called 'Poseidon'), while the vocals were initially written and sung by Matthew Koma over the instrumental for what became Zedd's 'Lost at Sea', before they reworked it onto the 'Poseidon' demo. Then I believe they ended up deciding it'd work better with a female vocalist, so tracked a few different ones (including Skylar Grey, who I'm guessing helped refine the lyrics and/or vocal melody) before ending up with Foxes. As for credit though, everyone involved (including Porter) still got writer credits, just not featured as an artist on the song. Matthew Koma and Skylar Grey didn't perform on the final song, and Porter didn't want his name on it, so they weren't listed as featured artists.

He actually played it way back in the day, Without lyrics it was called Poseidon, and he played it on a B2B tour with Zedd of the same name really early in their respective careers.
