Might it be that Link was put to sleep because the Zelda of his time was killed, making final victory over Ganon impossible and he was only called to awaken when a new Zelda was born. And Someone or something was put in place at the Castle to hold Ganon in as long as possible. Perhaps the Guardians were unleashed as a last ditch effort to try and contain him and over time more and more guardians fell to Ganon's control and thus central Hyrule has been slowly completely destroyed. Which could mean that the girl with the slate is the new Zelda and the other one COULD either be her in her full power or her ancestor, the Zelda of Link's time, before she died.

Christopher Andersen To add to this, in the BotW footage from E3, specifically when Bill talks about the Wolf Link amiibo functionality, he does mention that Link is "generally alone" on his adventure outside of the Wolf Link amiibo. So does that mean there are times Link will be accompanied? And would that not have to mean there are parts in the game outside of Wolf Link where Link is accompanied? Unless of course he's counting Epona as a companion, which we've of course seen Link travel with the horse. He also mentions that later on in the game, Wolf Link "will be able to sniff out certain items for you". The fact that it's something that you can do "later on" and that it's for "certain items" and now that we see there are dogs in the game leads me to believe that Link might be able to have a dog companion assist him besides Wolf Link. This was my initial thought before even seeing there were dogs in the game, so I'm really hoping that's true! :)

Nobody else seems to have said anything, but I thought that maybe the fact that the bird person's scarf is the same shade of blue as Link's clothing may indicate that they're somehow allies or linked together? As you can see, the girl in the trailer also features the same shade of blue on her clothing, and if you tie this in with the blue of the Sheikah technology it has to mean something. Maybe something to do with Hyrule itself, as it features what we're presuming to be Zelda? (although the girl could be someone completely different to that).

The description of the blue tunic during the demos say that it was the color and design of the hylians. So maybe the bird people are allies with hyrule and when Ganon takes over they switch to his side because he is then in control of hyrule.

The Bird man could also be Roam. For those who are unaware, Roam is a character that featured in the A Link to the Past comic, referred to as ‘The Mystery Knight’ and a master archer from the Knights of Hyrule. Despite actually being a human, the comic states that the Dark World changes the shape of those who inhabit it based on their hearts, so when Roam enters into battle with Link for the Master Sword in the comics, he transforms into a humanoid Eagle. Combining that information with the image we see here, we can draw a few interesting conclusions. If this is in fact Roam, then Breath of the Wild may actually be taking place in some form of the Dark World. Later in the trailer, the camera panned over a desolate and dark-looking area, a stark contrast to the lush green meadows we’re familiar with from the title. This would raise another question, why does Link not suffer a similar transformation? If we refer back to the events of the comic, Link manages to maintain his human form by controlling his emotions, meanwhile Roam saw his transformation as an advantage in battle. The Eagle man thing also can be seen equipped with a bow, further supporting that this is indeed Roam. Finally, this new character can also be seen wearing that same blue color as Link and the female character from before. Again, if this blue clothing is some form of link between characters, we could be looking at a begrudging ally for Link on his adventure in Breath of the Wild.

I think the art designers made it blue so it can stand out from all the green grass, green trees, and green bushes. If Link wore green (I think there are green clothing in the game too) he might blend in with the background elements.

I'm thinking flight is going to be a primary mode of transport in the game. A few things brought me to this conclusion. Nintendo said it would be an "open air" game, the constant bird motifs, and because if the world really is as large as we think it is, then flying would make a lot of sense, helping the player get around the world more quickly.

I have an idea on who the bird warrior might be, this is super obscure but hear me out. Way back when there was this link to the past comic link had a rival by the name of Rone. Rone was an elite soldier that was great with blade and bow and even followed link into the dark world were he became a bird, not to dissimilar to the one in the trailer. This guy was persistent and even challenged link for the master sword. If Nintendo have brought back Rone then we finally have a worthy rival for link other than his shadow.

Obviously. If they couldn't, you could just let them do all the fighting for you whenever they're involved. Wether that means perma-death or a game over or just any sort of penalty at all... no clue. Though at the same time, there's a good chance these are just generics that respawn periodically anyway, and who's existence has no real effect on the game other than to provide minor assistance on occasion.

I think those two faceless characters are indeed Zelda. The first shot is _"post-calamity Zelda"_ of the present time, all geared up and taking an active role against Calamity Ganon. The second (final) shot is a flashback of _"pre-calamity Zelda,"_ during a time in which Hyrule wasn't in ruin, she was still a princess, and Link was possibly her knight. Or at least recognized as _"The Hero of _*__*_,"_ hence the Master Sword. So I think the base plot goes down something like this: at a previous time, Link defeated Ganon and was designated a hero. Ganon somehow comes back, turns Sheika technology against Hyrule, defeats Link, and causes an apocalypse. Zelda puts almost-dead Link in stasis, sheaths the Master Sword back into its pedestal, seals Ganon in her castle, and then puts herself in stasis for 100 years so she can work with Link to defeat Ganon in the future. It would be a bit like the _Ocarina of Time_ plot, but set up like a redemption story. Also, I think Zelda could be playable. Seeing her all geared up like Link followed by that poignant foreshadowing of her curling her fist really drives the idea...

Stu blert89 Though this is kinda late and we'll probably be getting the rating either tomorrow or in the next few weeks, I'm pretty sure it will be T. On the official site, next to the "Rating Pending/RP" in the box where the reasonings of the rating are given, it has the disclaimer "May contain content inappropriate for children" which is a disclaimer given only to games that are really likely to be rated T or M. Also it seems to be going for more of the somber feel of TP and MM so that might lead into that a bit. Also, we don't know yet what this game could have considering Nintendo wants to shake up the Zelda formula. There's the possibility this game could be more violent than previous installations.

I feel like link is some sort of body guard for the character that might be Zelda. Link is bowing as if he was in front of royalty, and Zelda clenches her fist, but isn't bowing. "Zelda"(just what I'm calling the character) is wearing very shiny jewelry and fancy clothes which probably means they are very wealthy or royalty also. I personally believe that it is zelda being told by her father to do something, and she doesn't want to do it, just because of the way she clenches her fist, but it's purely speculation, so don't yell at me. Thats what i think too! The description of Links blue tunic indicates that he got it from royalty (most likely given to the royal guards). And that would also explain why the girl in the first shot might be Zelda, because her and Links clothes are similar so maybe they got them from the same place? If it's a new character, why not show the face? We all know that Zelda is important to the story and Nintendo knows that fans want to see her. That's the example of tease there. On chance and anarchy it would make sense. But I'm a man of fact; if it isn't confirmed to be Zelda, I won't call her like that. Feminine hand and waist - Zelda isn't the only girl in the game. Royal garb and accessoires - ever thought of the possibility that it could be Impa? Or an other royal member of the family? Zelda isn't the only one, y' know? Ever considered that trailers often hide faces of important characters? Zelda is also important, yes, but so were Midna, Ilia or Impa, for example. Hiding faces like that isn't new and can be, as stated, used on any important character. No matter how you look at it, for the moment the claim of her being Zelda is nothing more than a theory, a claim. *High chances* of her being Zelda isn't the same as a *confirmation*.

***** Impa has never been dressed in that kind of royal garb, not even when she's serving as Zelda's nursemaid. Only Zelda as far as games about the Triforce goes. And the trailer gives focus to important characters that Link will face, so it cannot be just any girl that they are hiding. The difference between Impa, Illia and Midna is that they were not hidden compare to Zelda. Nintendo has a tendency to hide Zelda in their promotional materials, such as Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, only revealing her in late promotions. And they teased about it ever since they brought up the voice that Link hears at the beginning of the games. There are so many factors cross pointing towards Zelda that it is virtually difficult to suggest it could be anyone else like the Old Man. It's like saying that Link from the E3 2014 demo could also be a new character and not Link even the face and the fact that he's the main focus is unquestionable that of the Hero of Hyrule, despite the different garbs. If it looks like Zelda and is played up as Zelda, than it likely is Zelda.

Now that you mentioned the red color signifying a machine that was influenced by Ganon... I can't stop looking at the color schemes. It's very well possible that the colors are significant, with red standing for Ganon, blue for Zelda, and Green for Link, as per the colors associated with each of the three Goddesses. In that sense, I'm not sure if technology necessarily stands for technology - I think it might just be that the "technology" we see in this game is only another form of the same power of Wisdom that Zelda and her Triforce embody, the power to create things and transform the world for the betterment of all.

21:55. This scene may actually take place outside a shrine or resurrection tower. On the very left side of the screen, we can see the outside of a pedestal - the same type of pedestal that we have seen scan Link's Sheikah Slate. Here is a close image of pedestal from E3 footage. www.gamereactor.eu/media/grtv/83/268303_w926.jpg. We are definitely looking at a similar pedestal at 21:55. I think Link either immediately after or before scans his Sheikah Slate during this scene. Which makes it less likely that this scene is occurring by a Goddess Statue, since neither Goddess Statue we have seen so far has had a scanning pedestal nearby.

I feel like the 2 new figures we see in the trailer are both Zelda. The one in the scene where Link is kneeling is Zelda from the past where she is still a princess. In the other scene where she is holding the slate is her in the present, where she lost her royal standing (kinda) and is living with the Sheikah. This way we see either 2 different Zeldas or the same one. A princess turning into a rebel.

Dunno if someone mentioned this already but i believe that the blue scarf the bird man was wearing may be an acquirable item. First because it stands out distinct on the character and clashes with the rest of its outfit in color and because of the other part of the pattern on the scarf. It looks somewhat spiral like. if you take into account the introduction of the bird and the wind current it was riding and it flying upward similar to how the image seems to be following the spiraling pattern on the scarf, it seems plausible the scarf may grant the ability to summon the updraft. Counter to this it could also just be a symbolic representation of the bird people riding the winds upwards, or a particular class or rank or type of bird person allowed to ride the winds or capable of riding the winds. Similar to how Link in skyward swords outfit is essentially just knights armor colored green, and not holding any real symbolism for the character yet.

The village being shown around 11:00 seems to heavily resemble Ordon Village. It's in a small valley in a forest, appears to have a strong focus on agriculture (including what appear to even be some pumpkin patches in the second shot) a house with a waterwheel, and a larger house for the mayor. Really I think both figures are Zelda, and I think that it is an important part of Zelda that appears in a bunch of games, it is her duality. In Ocarina of Time she is both Princess Zelda and Sheik, in Wind Waker she is Tetra and Princess Zelda, and in Skyward Sword she is the tomboy daughter of headmaster of the academy, Zelda, and the incarnation of the Goddess Hylia. My interpretation is perhaps of it showing her in both of her roles in garb similar to Link's with Sheikah tablet, and one where she is in the role of royal position. The more I think about it the more I like the flashback theory, that they are looks back at how things were back then. It seems likely that blue outfit itself is connected to the Sheikah, both Sheik's and Impa's clothes have a similar look in OoT. So I interpret it as perhaps Zelda spending her time herself training under the Sheikah, guardians of the royal family, rather than just being protected, being really another version of Sheik herself, with the Sheikah tablet too. But when things got really bad she had to take on the role of the Princess, Link behind her in his role of the chosen warrior. They charged for the fight, but Link fell and Zelda placed him to be healed and used her power to hold Ganon back. Link was also left Zelda's Sheikah tablet as a gift for on his new journey. Pretty much like how she left him the Ocarina, the pirate charm, and the sailcloth. I also like the idea of the bird people being Loftwing or something, because that is not how I want to see the Rito or Zora.

I love your analysis. I'm glad to see that you covered most of what I noticed and even more like the placement of areas. I never knew the horse head was already seen. I'm so glad you showed the Fokka in your analysis too and talked about the platform when the birdman shows up. I do want to at least point out that you didn't mention the guardian in the castle town ruins nor the second deer in the beginning. Maybe the second deer isn't so important. I also noticed all the trees that sprout from the tear at the start look like Guardians complete with six limbs and a hole that resembles their eye. What do you think?

Talking about the possible docking station at 15:41 notice the white symbol at Link's feet that looks Hylian, with its bird shape. That makes me think this is the place where you need to go to reach the bird-like flying ship, maybe by jumping inside the whirlwind and using your glider to go up, or by jumping on the back of any flying creture/person!

Looking at it to me, it immediately screams on being a female, and more likely than not, the same figure / woman (probably Zelda herself) that was shown holding the Sheikah Slate (presumably). I think you are thinking too much about the order of the scenes shown in the trailer. I mean, to me it's very clear what's going on: At first, Link was a grown up hero chosen by the Goddesses. He had the Master Sword and the Triforce of Courage. However, one day Calamity Ganon attacked Hyrule and corrupted the Guardians and that flying bird thing. Link was unable to stop the attack. Ganon won. Hyrule was destroyed. That is why Link is down to its knees on one scene and that character on his side is closing his fist: Link feels guilty because he was unable to protect Hyrule. That character, by the way, is Zelda. That's what we see in this trailer, but I can make some conclusions about that. Zelda, knowing that as Link is now he can't do anything about this catastrophe, puts him to sleep for a 100 years. He will forget everything that happened. Why does she do that? To make him become a hero again. She wants him to gain back his power, wisdom and courage he lost when he was unable to protect the Kingdom. Zelda, on the other hand, will lock herself in Hyrule Castle, using all her power to try to seal Ganon there for as much time as she can.

Well the eye might mean something else, because in ocarina of time in the graveyard i think there is mentioned that the sheikah symbol used to be just the eye and the tear was added after some event happened (I dont remember fully at the moment) My theory is that maybe Breath of the Wild will show us the moment the sheikah added the tear to the symbol
