Tears of the Kingdom came out during the last trimester of my pregnancy, and whenever my daughter was born in August, I began to hum and "sing" melodies from the game to her. Smooth, I wanted to say that your work transcends language and culture. I live in Japan and my little daughters have grown up listening to you since before they could walk. They call you "ba-ba-ba oniisan," and were so happy when I told them you were back and making new music. My oldest daughter is autistic, and when she was really little she would panic whenever we tried to brush her teeth before bed. We discovered that playing your rendition of "Song of Storms" from a long time ago enabled her to relax and get through it each night. Thank you so much, from Nagoya!

What I really appreciate about Smooth is how thorough he is. He catches everything. He knows every little fill, how every note bends, every background trill that's supposed to sneak in. I've never heard a Smooth cover where I thought "Aw man, he missed that little thingy there," or "he bent that note with weird timing." He picks these pieces apart and learns them intimately, in a way few cover artists are willing or able to.

Hateno Village is without a doubt the single greatest home town/village/hubworld that I've ever encountered in a video game. I could never really describe why I loved the place so much other than it felt more like home than any other place. A cozy little village on a hill with a couple of small farms and windmills here and there and a house that you slowly build up and add things to more and more, even with a few slots to hang up your favorite weapons for display, not to mention the super cozy music. I always ended each of my sessions playing this game going to Link's house, removing all the armor and unequipping my weapons, sleeping until morning in the bed, saving my game, and turning it off. I genuinely could not explain why I always did this. It just felt right. I've seen somebody point out that apparently you can't see Hyrule Castle from Hateno Village because of the hills. I have not verified this, but if that's the case, that might help explain my love for this place. Your entire adventure, the great calamity is looming over the castle in clear sight, a world ending threat constantly in view. Yet, Hateno Village is one of the few places you'd get away from all the worries and take a true moment of rest. Sure, this might also be the case for Kakariko in the same game, but not only is Kakariko Village a little more cramped than cozy with its giant cliffs completely surrounding it, it is also simply not your home. Then comes Tears of the Kingdom. It was kind of a shame yet really cute that it became Zelda's house instead of Link's. The mushrooms however... I really didn't like. I straight up was a Reede supporter in Tears of the Kingdom because he fought to keep the old rustic feel of Hetno Village around, and I could not for the life of me figure out if there were some way to make sure that Reede wins the mayoral election and avoided doing Cece's sidequests. No election came, so I finally tried asking around for some guidance on this and my friends told me that I can't exactly make either one win or lose, and I can't get rid of the mushrooms, but there will be a happy ending out of it. I was rather upset about this, but decided to push thorough and do Cece's sidequests to figure out what happened. It wasn't the ending of that quest line that got me, but rather, delivering mushrooms to the village folk. There was one NPC in particular, an older fellow that stated that they're not really into this new fad, but if it made the little ones happy, then that was all that mattered. Personally, I really do not like children, I find them to be rather annoying and the trends they follow and stuff they watch is significantly worse than when I was a kid. This one single NPC however gave me a whole different perspective though. If this is what makes them happy, then that is all that matters. I may still be young, but I'm not a kid anymore. Just as my childhood has passed, so too has Link's time in Breath of the Wild's Hateno Village. The best thing to do is keep the torch burning strong as I pass it on to the next person, and hold those great memories near and dear to me. Oh yeah, thank you Smooth McGroove!
