Did you ever play the Turoks? I played 1 and 2 on steam a few years back, I cant believe how different it looks. You can actually see things in Turok 2. Turok Rage wars on N64 was where it was at for me. That game was AWESOME! I loved unlocking all the new guns, characters and abilities. The bosses were fun, but it got to a point where it was very rough in normal stages. I should dig that out one day and completely finish it.

This hack did a good job with Link himself. I like the longer sword and more pronounced shield. You can also easily tell he's left handed! Edit: nm- he is left handed when walking left, right handed when walking right, apparently.

Love these hacks! I want to play them myself! Also Zelda was wet because Link spilled his Cream of Wheat on her. He eats Cream of Wheat to get strong in the morning before taking on the onslaught of enemies and the evil forces of Ganon.

Does anybody else get stressed when Mike fails to pay attention to his experience points & dies when he's close to the next upgrade? Everytime he plays a Zelda 2 game he takes crazy risks & often dies when he is so close to leveling up. I get nervous everytime he is close-lol. Maybe he is focused on the chat? I don't know-but the I truly get anxiety everytime Mike plays Zelda 2 games.

Yes, it bothers me too but that's his playing style. Also, one of the zelda hacks (resurrection of gannon) retained your experience for the most part even after continuing, so he leveled up quickly in that one.

Stream Thoughts: Great stream and interaction with chat. I had high high hopes for this game as I love the Res of Ganon and winter Sol. The game itself had many high moments (character redesign and using Zelda I items to name a few) but also quite a few “vanilla” moments which was disappointing. Definitely feels like an unfinished game. I don’t think there was nearly enough challenging moments in this game for the type of Zelda player you are. (Boss difficulty seemed the same, no need for farming) This is more for a person who recently beat Zelda II for the first time and then this could be their next game. Great fun stream overall. Personally love the 5+ hour streams

Assuming Mike is using an everdrive, he simply loaded a save state. You can see when he makes the save state just after getting upthrust

Down+start will make a savestate on the N8 everdrive. And up+start will restore that savestate. It can happen often accidentally with Zelda II because of how you select spells.

Not only tried it out but actually beat it :) Watching you play it and your comments on it made me think that the hackers of the Zelda 2 (and also Zelda 1 in a way) always have to walk a fine line when doing stuff like this: On one hand, they have to change enough around to make it interesting for someone who played the vanilla Zelda 2 as often as you did. On the other, they should not make it too cryptic and stuff in order to not kill any enjoyment you may have about playing it (I could imagine playing 5 hours just to find the Jump spell would be a mood killer). In that regard, hackers who do Mega Man and Mario hacks have a bit of an easier time in comparison. In that regard, from what I have read about it, Nightmare Of Ganon might be more up your alley compared to this because the hacker advertises it as a complete redesign of the original.
