I always noted how different he looks from the other Rito. Teba also has this "doesn't match the others" look, though less than Revali (And Kass, and The leader. But I digress). I wondered if Revali pushed himself so hard to prove himself better than all the others who bullied him for "looking wierd"

I have a feeling Age of Calamity is going to win people over on him. Revali has hints that shows his arrogance comes from a desire to help. If he isn’t the best then he can’t be a hero and he wanted to meet Link at first but was greatly disappointed in what he saw and that disappointment turned into bitterness

Daruk is like a proud uncle that always looks out for the young ones while Revali is like a cocky brother but secretly looks at his younger brother and sees his potential. Urbosa is like an aunt that always likes to tease the rest of the family. Mipha is like a caring sister that always cheers up the younger brother.

Revali is my favourite champion because he feels like an actual person. Sure he’s cocky but unlike the other champions he’s very honest and wants to improve his abilities to beyond the edge. To me, he’s the ‘okay but let’s see you do better’ type of character and this song does him justice. This is beyond incredible! Amazing work and I can’t wait to see what the other champions’ songs are like! (Edit) something else to mention about the song. The part about Link really shows why Revali doesn’t like him. To Revali, Link isn’t improving his skills and he’s frustrated by that since Link’s the saviour while he’s backup. He wants Link to improve, to show struggles like he did before so that he too can succeed.

I love that the song makes clear that Revali and his people already see him as a hero, or in other words _"a champion"_ (1:04-1:40) and when Link shows up seemingly out of nowhere and he gets praised just because "he is the chosen one". (1:41-2:07) Revali gets jealous and starts pushing himself too hard to prove to himself that: "he is the best and Link can't even compare" (2:45-3:02) And the end is the most beautiful part in my opinion: Despite his cockiness he congratulates Link on defeating the Calamity. Finally accepting that he won't always be "the best" and his initial jealousy to Link was wrong (3:03-3:30)

Overactive Imagination part of Revali’s theme can be heard in Rito Village( the “No time to rest,I am the best!Time to make everyone see” part). The fact that the theme plays in Rito village is a hint that even if he’s been dead for a century,his influence and legacy stays.His bow,The flight range,a place named after his namesake,etc.

Have you heard about the "heartbeat SOS" of the Divine Beasts? The sound in Vah Medoh/ Ravali's dungeon comes out a few seconds after they would occur in the soundtrack of the other dungeons. It's that detail that hits hard and he took longer to realize the danger/really thought he could live.

I had a feeling DBGreece would be playing Revali, and he did so good. He sounds heroic but not quite satisfied with what he is and unlike Daruk he doesn't really recognize Link, he's more of a "Yeah, let's see you try and do better" type of guy. As always, fantastic job on lyrics, art and mixing. The voices in chorus are easily recognizable and blend in so well. Also, seeing as DBGreece was in the chorus for "Daruk's Declaration" and Alex is in the chorus for this, I feel like Mipha and Urbosa will be played by Uprising and Emmykat. It's songs like these that make me realize how much I always listen to edgy and hardcore metal music to try and relax me to try and vent out my frustrations. This song calms me in a different way. It makes me feel more calmed in the traditional sense, like a friend is able to cheer me up from my depression and calm my rage. The fact I don't usually listen to these types of music and still adore this song in full really shows how powerful it is. Brilliantly done, team, this song did help me get through some really stressful moments I had today : )

Revali wasn't just some braggart. He really WAS that good. But he never in his life felt like he was as good as everyone around him kept PROCLAIMING because he could see his own flaws in a magnifying glass. So he trained hard enough to crack his bones from the moment he woke up each morning to the moment he passed out each night to try and BE the hero he thought everyone expected him to... always seeking that validation through perfection. Being a great hero wasn't enough, he needed to be the greatest hero like they all thought. And then one day, a random Hylian found a random sword, in some random woods, and just for that, was immediately proclaimed by the whole kingdom as the Greatest Hero. Revali would never BE the greatest. Ever. All his hard work, all his training, all the pain and sacrifice to become the great hero he is and now he was forever LOCKED into second place at best. It was all for nothing. Of course he was jealous. Of course he resented. But on another level... when he met the Hylian, he... didn't hate him. Not really. He could see he was strong, but he was also gentle and quiet. He liked Link and hated Link at the same time. Given time around Link, time fighting at his side, time getting to know him better, Revali probably could have let go of the jealousy and realized why Link was hailed as the ultimate hero. Understood. But... the Calamity robbed him of that. And now his only tale to be told is the tale of how he failed.

I love how well this captures Revali's character, it shows how he says he the best but doesn't really believe it, always pushing himself to be better, (and considering the "no time for rest", maybe (definetly) too much), and his need for validation. It's why he acts like this in the first place, it's really just a big facade to cover up his insecurities. I also appreciate the ending, and if I'm reading it right, it's implying he wants Rito Village to continue to grow and get better. He cares about his people. And the small hint towards his fears about how he will remembered, (a.k.a. another thing to add to the list of his insecurities), which is pratically blantantly stated in the Champions Ballad in one of the cutscenes after you defeat WindBlight again (go check them out). Also I literally cannot un-hear this now, "Fly Revali" plays in my head every time I listen to that part of his theme. This is really good.

EDIT: Is it wrong to say I actually like Revali as a character. Sure he is egotistic and a butthole to almost everyone, but his bite is as worthy as his bark. He works tirelessly so everyone can see what he is made of, to prove both everyone and himself that he is the best. I always respect anyone who works hard to obtain their dream, and that is exactly what Revali is doing. The sky is the limit for this Rito.

Revali is such an intresting character, and by far my favorite in Breath of the Wild. If you analyze Revali as a character, he is way more than just a cocky, rather rude person. One, he was NOT born with some sort of power. I don't actually know if Mipha, Daruk or Urbosa were born with their abilities, but the way they work really make it seem like they were. But Revali, worked really hard for his ability. And, it is by far, the most useful one. Sure, the others have really useful ones too, but Revali's is probably the ability I depend the most on. Other than that, Revali doesn't hate Link. He's kind of like Zelda, jealous of him. Link adapted to the master sword so easily, and barely had to work for it, while Revali worked his ass of day and night to get where he was, and he was still just backup. A lot of people I meet hate Revali, and adore Zelda, but the two are kind of the same. Link barely worked for the sword in their eyes, almost no battle for it. He adapted so quickly, while both had to work so much and Zelda didn't get it before everyone she loved was dead and Revali, depsite all his efforts, was still just Backup. And yet, he still wants to be Link's friend. Of course this is just how I see him, you might disagree. But, the song really shows who Revali is as a character.

I can relate to Revali on the fact I spend every day practicing for what I want to do with my life, and I mean, he's just like Zelda, salty because he's trained to a point it could be dangerous only to have someone who barely even had to try come and now he's backup after everything he's trained for? He's way more relatable than most, and I really like his character and I totally agree with you. I hope we get to learn about his personality in BOTW 2 as well.

There is this cool depth to revali that I think gets overlooked a lot, but this song captures it. He spends all day training to become the best in that crater, and he has this iron clad arrogance, but you can sense that glimmer of acceptance that link has surpassed him. Its faint, but I think it really rounds out his character perfectly.

1:41 I’m obsessed with this part, it basically sums up Revali, a cocky archer who hates link because even though he hasn’t proven himself yet, Link is at a higher status than Revali who worked so hard his whole life to achieve his status. I just Realized why Ravali hates Link! (At least I think I did) It’s because Ravali had to work extremely hard to get where he’s at he had to master the power of the wind by spending hours and hours training at the flight range and Link was able to beat adults in combat when he was four. And even though, at least, I would assume, Ravali trained extremely hard to get where he is, this knight gets to be in charge just because he has a special sword! Though Ravali can be really annoying at times, I understand his anger at Link.

Revali may be my least favorite champion(which I admit is completely because of his superiority complex), I still very much like how his character was done, how even as he’s dead he’s still thinking that he’s the best for the job. Yet as time goes on, and he sees how little the Ruto did to memorialize him, what with the others getting a statue/stone monument/...ok Urbosa not much but they’re prideful, meanwhile Ravali, the “best of them” simply has his takeoff spot, he starts to humble a bit. He’s still a bit of a jerk to Link, but he acknowledges that Link is the only one who can do the job of Hero. Oh right, great song as always!

To be honest, I think being remembered is all Revali wanted. He wanted to be respected, and he wanted to be remembered forever. Something I totally sympathize with. And from the look of it, he didn´t get the memorialization he wanted.

I personally think a takeoff spot is perfect for Revali, honestly. Recall that most Rito, in order to take to the skies, either need a powerful updraft or to fall from a sufficient height so that their wings can catch the wind. Revali was the only Rito who learned how to create his own updraft and take to the skies whenever he wanted. In a way, having a takeoff point in his honor is kinda like saying he's helping future Rito take to the skies.

I got a headcanon: So basically some people in Hyrule decided to make a Musical with these songs in honor of the Champions with Riju playing Urbosa, Yunobo playing Daruk, a painted Teba playing Revali and either Sidon or some random Zora playing Mipha. And then the Champions Ghosts say why not watch it and Revali being cocky about how he got the best songs.

I feel like Nintendo gave the jerkiest character the best song on purpose, and it does wonders here. "A soft-hearted knight with a stony-faced stare!" Ideally, Hyrule needs heroes like Zelda, who can emote and inspire others fine, but deep down are resolved and unflinching (She is the Champion in the end that holds the tide of Ganon's army). I mean, Revali does secretly approve of her cause. Revali is criticizing Link for being the opposite. While he acts all tough, he gets knocked down a lot, hence why Mipha helps him. We see Link pretty much die at Hateno. The man is all skill, no power. And since Revali is secretly insecure about not mastering his divine ability, he may actually be projecting unhappiness with himself on Link. He does view himself and Link as equals to an extent. He initially attempted to befriend him, noting a semblance between them. So with that in mind, he's mad that he hasn't reached his potential, and spites Link for not caring since he is the same. "He cannot stack up! So why am I backup? And why doesn't he care?" Emphasis on the last line. With Link as the guy tasked with saving the world, Revali is alarmed that Link isn't taking their shared inadequacies more seriously. "One more for the winning streak. No rest until I succeed." "No time to rest. I am the best. Time to make everyone see." We can see Revali's self-disatisfaction here, covered up by a pretense of pride, as always.

Revali the only champion NOT born into royalty or a special power instead working his way up the ranks on his own accomplished a feat thought impossible Revali's Gale. After being given a support role by the king he trained even harder beleiving he deserved a main role in Ganon's defeat. He had to take down Ganon himself to be satisfied. Seeing Link not as an enemy but as a rival given a role the young knight was unworthy of to test his skills against with hopes to surpass this rival and take Ganon down himself However that fateful day of Ganon's return things didn't go to plan With vah medho taken from his control and a opponent with complete control over the air fighting against him Revali was unable to prevent his demise Years later his rival returns and takes back the divine beasts from the blights and and Revali accepts that Link is worthy of the title he wanted so badly and that Link must defeat Ganon after all

Why does everyone hate Revali? He’s my absolute favourite because of how cocky and arrogant he is but he has a reason for being cocky and arrogant and that is that he worked hard for his achievements. He is also very clearly insecure and always wants to be the best so that people won’t just forget about him and his accomplishments. Meanwhile there’s Link who was praised simply because he was told it was his destiny to (not that he didn’t work at all for how far he got) but Revali never saw any of the work that Link put in therefore he just assumed that he didn’t earn his place by hard work but through privilege.

Just remembered the origin story of the Rito, they evolved from Zoras in Wind Waker, when Hyrule got flooded, with water. I can totally feel Revali in this, except I keep my feelings bottled up instead of being cocky. I try to do all my work perfect, as I am a perfectionist and have manners towards everybody. However, it never seems to be enough for them. I am stronger and smarter than everybody in my grade, tall, I am a great drummer, I am a skilled karate doer, and I can kick your butt. I also take an extra class which makes me miss much of my school work because I am volunteering for teacher and going to academic competitions that take up an entire day many times a month. I keep up with my school work even when I procrastinate. I’m hardly known for any of this, and I spend all of my time working, or practicing something else to be known for something. I’m SUPER insecure because I try my hardest but I don’t seem to stack up. Everyone still treats me like a joke. I’m also the only lonely one. Sorry for, you know, telling you whatever you would call this.

He actually had the skills to back it up and he worked himself to the bone to get there every single day. The Flight Range was BUILT by Revali, and that little Rito hut that overlooks it? That is where Revali LIVED, so that he could train hard, every single day, from the moment he woke to the moment he finally gave in to exhaustion. It was part of his beef with Link. He worked himself to passing out exhaustion to become the greatest champion of Hyrule... and he got pushed out by some seemingly random knight who just seemed to be BORN into the role of Hero with no special work attached. All his backbreaking work and training to be the Ultimate Champion he felt his people and all of Hyrule deserved mattered nothing because some hylian nobody pulled a random sword out of a random rock in some random woods. Of course he resented. But on some other level he also LIKED Link, he didn't like that he didn't like Link on ANY level. Given time he probably would have gotten over it and, technically, after Link won back Vah Medoh he arguably did.

I personally think that Revali is the best champion, because unlike everyone else, Revali seems like a more realistic character (other than being a bird). Imagine you are the best person at doing something in all of your town, then some random person shows up and turns out to be a better at everything. Of course you would sort of have mixed feelings about them. And that’s what makes Revali the best, as he is the one that doesn’t just accept link. He also actually really wants to be friends with Link as supported by the DLC. Unfortunately he never got the chance before he was killed by Windblight Ganon...

When I first played this game, Revali was my least favorite champion. I thought he was just a cocky arrogant jerk who was mean to Link for no reason. Over the years I took a look at him and his story. Revali spent years training, working, struggling to awaken his power, Revali's gale. The other champions all inherited their powers, and while yes, they are skilled, Revali's story is incredibly inspiring, and stands out from the other champions. He wasn't the heir to a throne or a power like the other champions, he was a common man. He decided he wanted to be the first Rito in history to truly master the air, and no matter how many times he failed, he kept getting up and pushing himself. Then one day, he finally made it. He mastered the air, and became the only Rito to ever master this newfound power, which he called Revali's gale. Even 100 years later, no other Rito acquired his power. His story of unyielding persistence and pushing onward until he became the hero of the Rito and a champion of Hyrule is so inspiring. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Revali of the Rito is my favorite botw champion.
