Forest Temple is available as soon as you get the Hookshot and Saria's Song, but you can skip the Saria's requirement by doing a cheeky Hookshot backflip over Mido's head from the right angle.

You can make the water temple boss a lot easier by hook shotting it over and over while locked on, and dragging it into the corner so it can't get away when you hit it.

Two things. 1. In the spirit temple, the chest that you said you have no idea when it spawned: it spawns at the same time as the chest in the statue's hand when you play Zelda's lullaby on the other hand. 2. In the fight against ganondorf, when he uses the big energy attack, a simple spin attack with your sword will knock all of it back at him. A lot easier than trying to avoid it.
