I recreated the music from the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Trailer 3 in the Ocarina of Time engine. The audio is recorded from a real N64, and the music data is injected into the console's memory live using the Triforce% toolchain. Plus, some behind-the-scenes info from me!

@@ABMC2 For beginners, just download an OoT soundfont and use the instruments from that in your DAW of choice. If you want to create sequences which can actually be used in-game like this one, there's a bit more MIDI setup you'll need to do in your DAW, and then you'll need to use a tool to convert the MIDI to the N64 sequence format, and load it into your romhack project. If you get to that point and need help, feel free to reach out to me!

You're welcome! This track is slated to be included in the OoT Randomizer, though it's with a batch of music which requires better support in their toolchain for custom banks, so I don't know when that will get merged. But I have seen it running in a test build of the rando.

You are hearing this on an N64... This isn't a soundfont, this is modded OoT. The song is also added to the OoT Randomizer so you can hear it on your own N64 if you're playing the rando.

Amazing! I have a question: Approaching this for the first time, I assume there is a way to have those n64 sounds banks / samples as “virtual synths” or vsts in a daw? Or running from a daw into a n64 emulator, maybe? (I guess that’s what you used to do for previous videos, but I don’t know where to find such vsts, if they exist - and the possibly copyright issues etc too, actually) I would love to try this process, but I don’t always have a physical N64 around nor the whole “feed” system, so I would start with samples in a daw
@Sauraen
@Sauraen 2 ай бұрын
Of course, you should be able to easily find soundfonts of OoT as well as many other games if you search online. Personally I usually directly rip the samples myself and load them into a sampler instead of trusting the soundfonts, but those would be much easier for a beginner.
