When I saw that this video was uploaded, even though I had to go to bed because the next day would start early, I just had to watch it. SO HAPPY That Tim's LP of TOTK has finally started. I haven't even finished my first playthrough of it because I don't have the time to play every day and for hours on end, although I consider myself to be quite far. Every map is filled out and I think I have about 3/4 of all shrines done. There just is so much to see and do.

Dude, you released this on the day that I just finished the game. Despite being spoiled on the ending way too much, I ended up liking the ending more than I thought I would. They went above and beyond to make this game amazing and actually epic. (in scale and in story)

Interesting how this LP is more oriented towards people who already have a working knowledge of the game than people who are totally fresh to it and BotW. One subtle change between games I havent really seen anyone talk about is how beetles went from just occasionally being on tree trunks, to being rare rewards for beating Evermeans. What flew away at 35:32 was a Faron Grasshopper

This was a long time coming, but it almost feels like KZbin back when BotW came out. Everyone’s streams/LPs were just of that, and between you, Tom, Josh, and Stephen we weren’t going to lack in Zelda content for a while. Granted, Tom’s done with TotK for now, but Jirard’s still streaming to complete it instead. Ah, just so many games to catch up on this year, especially in this last third, and 2024 doesn’t seem to be slowing down so soon either after that last Direct and State of Play.

45:10 Same, I didn't know every ability, but when I got Ultrahand, I spent a solid 15 minutes trying to attach something to my weapon that doesn't fall off when I pick the weapon back up. God, you're right, that flowery light pattern is a brightbloom, and it's featured in a lot of Zonai things. That makes so much sense if you think about how Zonai apparently used to live in the Depths long ago. They must have used brightbloom seeds to light their way just like you do, and that's why it became a symbol for them.

The whole opening felt so amazing, especially since I've really missed proper caves in BotW. I was so excited when Ganondorf namedropped Rauru, only to be so disappointed a little later. Same with Zelda talking about the Imprisoning War before that. I definitely understand why a sizable amount of fans was disappointed by the plot when this is how it begins. They could have used any other names to not set false expectations.

I tried to 100% this on my second playthrough and when I got the added indicator on my map, it showed a 99.55% map completion, lol. Needless to say, I concluded I was satisfied with what I accomplished. I didn't know about the ZL technique to flatten the object using Ultrahand, so that's new. Plus there's no hidden area behind the altar in the shrines, so there's no need to do a little tour this time. But I did endeavor to find all the treasure chests in all the shrines.

I was pretty close on my map, too. I had a similar percentage around 99%, but was able to find the remaining locations. All in all, I can say that I completed my last playthrough, and I'm currently working on another one...

One year before I started Tears of the Kingdom, I finished the main scenario quest of Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker (no story spoilers given here), and the final area of the last dungeon was really similar to this opening area in this game. I'm convinced that if you time it right narratively and structurally, yellow areas are absolutely the most memorable to me, because I think it's interesting how two of my favorite games of all time now have very memorable areas that both look strikingly similar. And I'm also currently thinking about this as I wait 50 minutes for a game to transfer from my SD card.... bleh.

Ahh thanks! I've been thinking about that very thing for the longest time. The idea was I wanted to make it mostly yellow 'cause you don't see a lot of yellow in thumbnails these days. So last night I finally sat down and just started walking around the opening area and taking pictures with the camera. About 10 minutes into it, I took this shot, and then took a couple more. I had like 10 in all, but when I looked back over them, I was like oh my god. This is the one.

So the camera angle bit you go on about Tim I think is what they refer to as the 180-degree rule in film! Which could explain why that shot with Zelda and Link struck you in a possibly disorienting way...that's if you meant to describe it as such. I think in this game, they changed it so the rhino beetles only show up at night, which is why you spent so much time looking for them in the day, before the day/night cycle kicked in. 😉
