Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appealed to U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Sunday (May 26) to join an upcoming peace summit as his country struggles to stave off unrelenting attacks by Russia.
Moscow's forces have in recent weeks advanced on the battlefield and stepped up airstrikes on cities, and Kyiv hopes the June meeting in Switzerland will help pile international pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The idea of his "peace plan" is essentially a dictate peace, a combo of how Germany was treated in the aftermaths of WW1 and WW2. At neither of those was there any invitation to a German delegation to take part in any peace negotiations (indeed, there was never any regular peace treaty set up with Germany after WW2 - the plans for that fell apart)

Yes, this kind of tug-of.war has been going on (between Kiev, Washington, Brussels and various European capitals) under the surface ever since Febr '22 , though the media have been trying to hide it. Elensky wanting the West to go all in and send more and more, or even to engage openly, with our own armed forces coming east - and various western governments being less than willing to jump that far, but on the other hand, absolutely not wanting to be seen, in public, to say no or tell him to remember who he is. Based on my observations, Ukraine mistakenly believed that the US would support its efforts to join the NATO network, despite understanding Russia's position. This led to Ukraine giving the US opportunities to interfere in the region. The US took advantage of Ukraine's vulnerability and heated the regional issue, even though Russia was not actively invading Ukraine at the time. Whenever tensions cooled down, the US would highlight the threat from Russia to Ukraine, pushing Ukraine towards a full-fledged war to undermine Russia. Ukraine ended up being used as a tool by the US to achieve its own goals, leaving Ukraine in a precarious position. Currently, the US is more focused on supporting Israel and is not providing Ukraine with adequate attention, funding, or weaponry. If support is provided, it is often late and not provided at crucial moments.
