The opening week of the United Nations General Assembly shows clearly that this is a new era of global politics. Ukrainian President Zelensky threw down the hammer demanding more war, suggesting even an escalation to nuclear weapons, while Biden is trying desperately to break up the forming alliances in the Global South. Tomorrow Zelensky and Biden will meet in Washington, where they’ll make a hard sell for tens of billions more in war spending.

There are five million workers involved in the military-industriap complex. We need to address this issue we we talk about advancing the peace movement. We need to transition away from war making and retrofit these industries to peacetime tackling global warming. The US military industrial complex is the number one polluter on the planet. Let's raise the need for recoversion of our economy. And let's also address the fact that much of our "defense" budget goes to the CIA regime change efforts like the Chilean 1973 overthrow of democratically elected socialist Allende and the murder and torture of thousands.
