Zelenskyy asks UK for fighter jets to help defeat Russia

On a surprise visit to Britain, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to Rishi Sunak to give his country fighter jets, he called them "powerful English planes", to help him defeat Russia.

Mr Zelenskyy's flying visit included a meeting with the Prime Minister in Downing Street, a speech to Parliament and an audience with the King at Buckingham Palace.
He then went on to Dorset with Rishi Sunak to see Ukrainian troops being trained on British tanks.

Yes there is propaganda- but that doesn’t mean that supporting the defence of this illegal invasion isn’t necessary. Russia has invaded a democratic country. Russia has been expanding its territory for years and the west has sat by, complained and let them get away with it. Russia has assassinated people in the UK. They meddled in the US election.they have hacked businesses and infrastructure. Putin lies, denies and then interferes and invades. There’s no doubt Russia would not balk at invading further Eastern European nations which is why they along with the rest of Europe all want to join NATO voluntarily so that Russia can’t make up another excuse to invade parts of their land. It’s why Ukraine wanted to as well, for good reasons. If Ukraine falls, Putin will turn his focus more on Europe, the Uk and the US. Yes, there has to be an effort to keep up the support of Ukraine to defend their land, and help defend us as well. Building support for Ukraine is vitally important, especially in these difficult times and with Russia aiming to break democratic will to help with their own propaganda. Appeasement didn’t work with Hitler, and it doesn’t work with Putin, unfortunately.
