Zelenskyy confirms Ukraine’s offensive inside Russia’s Kursk region

The Kursk region of Russia is no stranger to war. Some of the fiercest battles of World War Two were fought on its dark soil. President Zelensky has confirmed for the first time that it is the Ukrainian military advancing there.

It appears the incursion by Ukraine is aimed at destabilising Putin and his military command. For its part Russia is promising a "tough response" to an incursion it says makes "no sense" from a military point of view.

Demonstrating the difficulty that Russian Military Leaders have understanding multiple problems simultaneously. It's a blessing to Russia that they are NOT engaging directly NATO forces. Had they, perhaps Kaliningrad and much of Belarus would be changing hands very quickly and imagine forces crossing over from Finland and Turkey too. The multiprong war with NATO in the East and North would show how incapable Russia is in fighting on multiple fronts. Too bad now that there is NOT a push in Georgia and Chechnya to move Russian forces out. That probably would be met with little Russian resistance.

That whole region is rightfully Ukrainian anyway. Settled for thousands of years. Reports that Ukrainian expedition Soldiers treat civilians with respect and nicely ask them not to film. All military in uniform captured, are being walked to Ukraine for transfer to come. Mostly reserve conscripts and police. NATO has, 3,275 Fighter and interceptors, 22,308 aircraft it total. Russia has 3,854 aircraft total, possibly 700 less now, since the war began in 2022, reported shot down.

The western cities of St Petersburg, Moscow are not that difficult to invade from Europe.. don't kid yourself into thinking Moscow cannot be taken, Prigozien could have probably got to moscow if he hadnt been tricked and gave up half way. Everyone keeps overlooking one aspect, which is that if Ukraine can now initiate cross border attacks, and the border is so vulnerable, Russia is going to need to redeploy a massive number of troops to protect the border. Everyone reports on possible redeployment to Kursk, but it’s much bigger than that.
