The US offered safe passage to the President when Russia invaded on Feb 24th. Zelenskyy responded to the offer with his famous statement that ''he doesn't need a lift he needs weapons.'' or words to that effect. They did everything to sabotage the agreement because they just never ever wanted to be part of Ukraine again, amnisty or not amnisty. This is the truth and they were backed in the end by russia in this decision. I m sure that they did everything they could to pull russia into this war, overvictimizing themselves and trying hard to convince russia year after year to start hostilities and an open war against Ukraine.
