Zell Am See - Austria with Covid Restrictions 2022

Not a Lady B adventure!
Long before Covid and Lady B we booked this ski holiday with our 2 boys. Turns out it took us over 2 years to actually go on the holiday.
Covid restrictions, lots of stress and faff at the airport we made it!
Austria has lots of restrictions in place, like wearing a mask on chair lifts and a 10pm curfew.
This is our vlog sharing our skiing passion and a few insights of the new lift that connects Zell am See and Saalbach.
Lady B will be back very shortly once I have completed the ironing.

Great film. We are off there in March as we changed dates from January because of restrictions. Thanks for the orientation to the town and slopes. also useful to hear about the motorhome stop offs near by! Glad your family had a top time.

Thanks! You will love it. We have been in March before and it’s lovely. Just be careful of the runs home, they become very wet and challenging ⛷

Great film, thanks for posting. We are there at Feb half term, so I imagine busier, pistes but they look pretty wide. Town looks lovely and lift system looks modern. 👍

Excellent vid, as I lived and worked in Zell for 4 years from around 2012. Great town, great people and a fantastic place to live all year. Btw there is a campervan site not far out of Zell on the clockwise route of the lake, about 25 minute walk, roughly half way between the town and the hospital.

We have stayed in the same hotel , brings back lovely memory . you have done great job with video . I wish we can go in April , but not sure if there will be enough snow .

It’s such a gorgeous hotel! That’s the problem with this resort, you just don’t get a late season. We have been mid March as it was slush after lunch

Great video! I love Zell. Going back next xmas. Can't wait. It is a shame to see so many of the bars etc shut. Hopefully next season its different and its all a lot more open Not sure if you're aware but if ever the snow isn't the best on the Schmittenhohe you can jump on a bus to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and the conditions are virtually always great up there as its over 1000m higher. Anyway awesome video. Looks like you all had fun

Wow awesome vlog Jo, We love Zell am See, We haven’t been back since summer 1984 it was absolutely scorching. We stayed in a sport hotel right in the town centre we’re sure we spotted it as you walked passed, although probably a different name now. Your walk around the town & lake certainly brought back such happy memories!😄 Ah well Another motorhome holiday to plan for the near future😁 lol Your all so brilliant at skiing lol, we thought we were watching ski Sunday haha😂 We really enjoyed this vlog with fantastic filming & content, thanks for sharing best wishes Jo❤️⛷😄

Thank you! That made me laugh so much. We have been skiing a long time now and the boys since they were little. It’s a great holiday…. Expensive but great! Next time in Lady B, we talked about it all the time we were there and we discussed the summer too. I’ve always wanted to do a ski resort in the summer. Thank you 🙏🏻⛷

I went to Zel in 1989 with my parents and returned with my boys for Christmas 2017, 2018 and January 2020. Quite a change since we first went a bit overdeveloped I thought but still lovely. The lake was frozen over in 1989 btw.

It’s only recently that the lake has stopped completely freezing over I think. I’ve been about 7 times since 2008 and it’s only the last 5 years that it just doesn’t seem to freeze nearly as much anymore

Do you need a PCR test? I thought proof of vac is enough?

No at the time we went we had to have for for fly PCR test as well as proof of vaccines. It may have changed again but I would check on the .gov website. Good luck 😁
