There definitely needs to be a wincon of some sort. I also don't think they should get to know the roles of their lover, but instead just be able to whisper them at night and have to figure out their partners role. Instead of immediately silencing the admirer if the lover is evil, just give the lover a one off ability to silence them whenever.

There used to be a gamemode on ToS1 with lovers. You win with your lover, die with your lover, regardless of what faction either of you are in. You have a normal role and at the start of the game, you get randomly assigned a lover. I haven't played ToS2 yet, but is the lovers gamemode not there?

There’s several reasons for rapid mode. Knighting, TK, and Mayor could make a difference. Most importantly, though, is traps. I saw 1 yesterday where the guy had no win condition himself, but he had a hidden trap on him. It left him as the last person and a dead coven at his feet.

I feel every round admirers should have a 50% chance to get turned into a "fanatic", so since the first night they can't speak there's a 75% chance they'll be a fanatic by the time they can join the next meeting. But there still is a chance for you to stay town that whole length and you can still try to stay town if you want to. Could even have some subclasses like "dreamweaved" which autovotes you the same as what your dreamweaver votes

The reason for no auto win with arsonist is for an instance where a trapper is present in the town. If the last living person is trapped then arso will lose

Technically, I don't think Arso loses to Trapper because they douse first (visit, no attack) and then attack from a distance, but like someone else said, you could easily have someone knighted or some other win con. There would be a lot of specific situations that could change things. I think rapid mode is a good middle ground to let those case-specific situations play out,

Yeah. There’s a lot of potential win conditions that town or another group could have versus an arso/other roles in a 1 v 1. If there is never a potential win for 1 side of the 2 groups, then the auto win happens (such as any 1 maf role versus 1 sk in ToS 1). If the group has a potential win condition, it doesn’t auto win so that it allows that group to potentially win in those scenarios without signaling/confirming to the person who would normally be expected to win that the special circumstance where they might not win is in play (such as with there being a potential veteran, it makes it so that a lack of the day ending doesn’t confirm that there is a vet or that the vet has more alerts, etc). I just wish the 12 of them would think about it more and not keep whinging about waiting 30 seconds in multiple videos because they can’t be minimally inconvenienced for better game structure and gameplay potential. The whining is worse than the extremely short wait.

The reason it isn't an auto-win is that it's non-trivial to figure out if a given set of roles can turn the tables. Once you start marking specific ones as automatic, people start complaining that others aren't automatic. Also, if you mark enough as automatic, there's the risk you'll accidentally hit one that shouldn't be, like mayor or knight.

Yeah, Pipetron just showcased that with Invest vs Coven in a 1v1. There was a stoned (hidden) Trapper in the game who happened to have trapped him and he won it for town when coven attacked. If it was an auto-lose, the trapper would be upset. If it was an auto-lose except where there's still a win condition, it would give meta info to the players still in the game (like if it didn't end only because there was a trap in play). Rapid mode seems like a good compromise to speed up the end game.

Although, I wonder if it's possible to consider all the possible cases under various conditions and decide to have a small minority of games autowin - such as games like these where all the roles are revealed and the only hidden town role has no opportunity whatsoever to win. It'd be different if the roles were all revealed and there was stuff like trapper, or if there were coven roles with a potential trickster. Maybe the minority would be too small to even bother, but I think it'd be nice to have an occasional game that just auto-ends since there's nothing possible left

That first round is one of the funniest ToS2 games I have witnessed! Seeing Bryce and Vik held captive by the ones they 'loved', ones who destroyed every other trace of love or compassion in the town, before begging for mercy and inevitably being taken out as well, was such a wild trip! I still hope that one day the game will alter the Admirer role so that it becomes a Neutral role that can win with any other player as a lover, which would have spared these wonderful couples from being torn apart so tragically! It was also nice of Mayor Ze to give Kara a position despite her calling out his habit of typing loudly whenever he has the role and then burning half the town to death, lol. Mayor Ze may not have survived for long, but I like to think his presence helped influenced the town for the better... he definitely helped the Doomsayer at any rate! Thanks for posting the rest of these very fun games, Ze! It was so much fun watching them again!

I’ve seen 14 jesters before. Auto loss for every jester as soon as day 1 started. It was in ToS 1 (all random) and I think it was patched to prevent that shortly thereafter.

I think it'd be cool if there was a town role called something like Exorcist who can, at the cost of their life, rebound an Astral attack and kill the attacker. Something like a bodyguard for Astral. Should be balanced by being unable to be selected in the roles list and can only show up if you select random town? idk something like that. I know ToS really likes having Astral be this kind of unstoppable attack but maybe there can be this super rare case where town gets a defense against one Astral attack
