Zen & Michael talk Jacob Collier's comments on prolific record producer Rick Rubin. And yes, we misattributed St. Anger to Rick (it was actually Bob Rock). www.musicradar.com/news/jacob...

Rick Rubin didn’t produce St Anger

Right, it was Death Magnetic and the snare there is fine. Like half this video is completely useless. Shoddy work.

I kinda feel like I’m listening to my non musician friends pretending to be “experts” about music. Not saying you have to be a musician to be knowledgeable about music, but they definitely don’t record those conversations and call it a podcast.

I'll take the bait.. Rick Rubin has produced some great albums, and Jacob Collier's music stinks. That's all

Jacob is AI. He might be the smartest musical mind in the world but everything he writes sounds like ass. Including his voice. I do think knowing too much theory can create a worse final product. Jacob is very fun to listen to talk. But listening to his music is like forcing yourself to read the terms and conditions of a new iPhone update.
