I’m glad Anika Noni Rose got the part of Tiana. I heard that after she got casted, production based Tiana’s features off of Anika’s. So if Beyoncé or Tyra was casted,Tiana likely wouldn’t have been dark skinned, nor would she have had a wider nose. I’m thankful for that representation.

@@iidentifyasaPSLGoddess That woman, Lean Chase, although lighter, has a wider nose than Beyonce and Tyra and her story was used for Tiana's backstory (not her phenotype...Anika was the inspiration behind Tiana's look). It would not have been "fair & accurate". There is already plenty of light-skinned representation, and I'm saying this has a lighter-skinned black woman. I do wish black women in general had better representation (hate how Prince Naveen was kind of a bum although he's handsome and charming), and positively representing unambiguous black women benefits the black women's plight more than representing ambiguous black women.

Beyoncé can’t even voice act. She sounds the same and she plays herself. The fact that she expected the role to come to her and not go through the process doesn’t sit right with some producers, they don’t care who it is, especially if they are looking for someone with that certain zing. It isn’t just enough to sing. So it makes sense the most qualified person got it. Anika had the entire package. She DID THAT. Aaliyah said the character was originally different than the one we got now. In the original script, Brandy was supposed to be snooty and stuck up. When Regina Hall auditioned for the role she didn’t know that, she just came in and made the character into the stereotypical ghetto Black girl since they were spoofing horror movies and stereotypes. The Wayans loved Regina’s audition so much that they rewrote the character based on her version.

I needed to see this! As an aspiring actor myself, this reminded me that rejection is ok. Sooooo many GREATS have been rejected from major casting roles and if they can get thru it, dust themselves off and try again then so can I. Rejection is ok. It's not what we want, but that just means something better is waiting for us. Never give up. Never stop trying. Keep slaying until you get a YES ✅️🙏🏾❤️
