Finally installed all the Zenitco furniture on my Saiga 5.45 and WOW it shoots like a dream. The recoil impulse feels softer and more "premium" because the rifle is just so solid feeling now. I think the PT-5 stock plays a big part in this. My AK feels like a tanky laser gun now.

4.75kg holy crap that's a chunky beast. Zenitco parts have always been way too heavy. An equivalent M16 based rifle would be easily 1-2kg lighter.

Because the basic AK rifle itself is already heavier than AR. Also with the added weight you get: - better ergonomics - rail to mount stuffs - IR laser and light capability to work with night vision - white light and visible optic - Red dot collimator sight - sound moderator/flash suppressor/shot stabilizer/totally not a suppressor device Compared to base AK which only has traditional iron sights and non collapsible folding stock. And if all the devices on the zenitco'd AK are removed leaving only the rails then I bet it's still gonna be less than 4 kilos, still heavier than AR with similar capability but again... it's AK. But then why would you add rails in the first place if you aren't gonna mount anything on them.

@@weasle2904 Full length rifles with full night fighting kit are chonky across the board, 10 pounds at least. Especially with a surpressor. Marine Corp's new service rifle, the M27 IAR, comes out at 12.5 pounds when accessorized. You could shave off a lot of weight by going with a shorter hand guard and a less overkill stock, like the FAB Defence folder or just the regular one. "Almost the same as an LMG" is hyperbolic, as an m249 weighs 17 pounds unloaded, 22 pounds loaded.

@@hjorturerlend The M27 IAR is a heavy machine rifle, like the RPK, it's not meant to be a light rifle. Your comparison has no merit at all. A similarly kitted out MK18, M4A1/HK416, or 16in AR is going to weight (at the very least) 2-4bs lighter, which is a huge weight difference.
