I got that same cabinet and everything works now but the 8 track needs a new motor. Every once and awhile it slows down. The track select was ran bay a rubber gear that was warn down and was stuck. Needed to take everything apart and greased everything and changed the rubber gear. The turn table needed oiled and grace and a new head and audio wires. Fixed most of it and it works good now.

I just got a 1974 Zenith Allegro console with end tables yesterday. I'm a little confused with setting it up, seeing it's not in my era.

Hello there, if everything is functioning properly with your console, it should be fairly straight-forward to operate. for example, starting with the receiver section (that of which tunes in radio stations and contains the main amplifier section) should have a "selector" knob that selects the various functions AM/FM, Tape (if it has a tape deck built in), Phono (record player), Aux (for Auxiliary input if present on back of unit), which will allow you to connect an external music source with the appropriate cables. Otherwise, if there's something specific with the setup / function you can't figure out, contact me via email at ernest@retroelectrotech.com and I'll try to help you out. There may be a little bit of a delay on account of my workload here in the shop, but I'll get back to you soon enough. Feel free to send a photo or two if there's something specific you want to point out. Have a good day. -Ernest.
