FUNCTION DESCRIPTION.
REPAIR AND ADJUSTMENT.
This training package from Volvo Service deals with carburetor Zenith-Stromberg, and remains
of 2 parts, each containing a slide set and an audio cassette. Part 1 describes the carburetor
function and part 2 includes repair instructions and the principle of setting
the carburetors. Make sure that the appropriate number of carburetors and screwdrivers are distributed to the students. (Preferably
these should have their own). Drive through part 1 completely. Then have students look at the carburetor details.
Discuss function etc. Show how the cold start affects the damper. Disassemble the carburetor as needed.
In case of problems, return to the current image and corresponding text in this booklet. Then drive
go through the pictures one more time. Stop and explain in case of uncertainty. Then take apart
the carburetor completely. Then drive through part 2. Stop the tape recorder in suitable places and
check the detail in question. For example, after figure 32. Remove the fuel needle and
check it and its labeling. After Fig. 34. Check the float level. After picture 40. Look
on the diaphragm and its heels. Look at the cold start and its location. After picture 44. Add
mark for quick-release screw and idle screw, play on lever and volume screw on
the opposite side of the carburetor. Then demonstrate current special tools. Assemble the carburetor.
Go through the adjustment procedure in the trolley using the workshop manual relevant to the model
and workshop message.
