Ya but, this build shouts, look at me, me, ME, whoopy Dee!! VERY VERY POOR Choice of engine. Those tiny 4cyl engines use HUGE amounts of fuel, at high rpm and under turbo boost. For spinning a Propeller, you NEED an engine that produces a lots of torque at very low rpm, and sips fuel while doing it. Oh!,,, and inline 4cy are vibrators, unless fitted with balance shafts that rob engine of power, while adding weight and complexity. VTEC Yo !!!

Machines and Things the slots, I call them slots because they are fixed in place and not movable or I would have said slats have plastic tips on each end those would have been painted then riveted on as powdercoating plastic don't work, I built a dozen or so airplanes for icp in Canada and we used to use an epoxy based paint that was awesome, you could paint a piece of alum. And score it with an exacto knife and bend the piece of alum. And try and pick the paint off and you couldn't. I still think polishing is the best less weight = faster and higher roc

Can tricycle landing gear handle rough undeveloped terrain?
@zenithairco6 жыл бұрын
"Rough undeveloped terrain" is quite relative. The effective elevator control means you can mostly keep the nosewheel off the ground. Additionally, we like the better forward visibility of the tricycle gear configuration, better steering and ground handling, and ease of getting in and out of the plane. The reality is that most modern pilots simply don't have taildragger experience or access to training, and pay higher insurance rates for taildragger coverage.

"Its like a bunch of drunks got on KZbin and are all of a sudden experts." Read that to yourself again please. Also, "some of the most reliable engines in the world. Its called maintenance." No shit Sherlock! Any engine can be reliable if you do maintenance on it. My crap Chinese engines for motorizing bicycles can run great for thousands of miles if you do maintenance on them. By the way, how the hell do you get offended by innocent comments anyway? Where in my original comment say anything about "I know everything about engines" or " Honda engines or terrible"? It was a simple comment. It wasn't even classified as funny and I know that. Some peoples kids man. They never shut the fuck up.

The Wright brothers didn’t use a car engine, they built their own.
@brettoberry35866 жыл бұрын
It was designed and built like a car engine of their time. They would have purchased one if it met their goals AND an auto company would have sold them one. I have over 20,000 hours but only an hour or two of General Aviation time - at first glance this airframe looks like it needs more rudder and more vertical stabilizer surface ... can you speak to that ?
@zenithairco6 жыл бұрын
Virtually the entire vertical tail is the rudder so it is indeed a very large effective rudder with more than adequate rudder authority (especially important at low speeds). For more about the unique design features of the Zenith STOL airplanes, see the article by designer Chris Heintz: www.zenithair.net/high-lift-design/
